Is it really that hard to find a place to live??
We had looked at moving there, but couldn't find anything listed for less than $1k a month and no pets.  Is the cost of living that high?? Anything we need to know about the area?? |

Depends on how close to town you want to be. Seems like the stuff closest to Austin is higher price. Rental has been absurdly high for a long time but seems to be dropping lately (go figure, I bought when it was expensive, and rented while it was expensive... ). The 2BR I used to live in (was $1k) is now $800 I think, and dropping. Might make another check around to see what's current.

I actually would want to be as close to Leander as possible. I am not interested in Austin or Round Rock.

If you're interested in Leander you might try looking for listings either there or Liberty Hill as well... probably cheaper than anything close to Austin.

Cedar Park is a nice area I am not for at all from there and there are plenty of really nice housing developments with fairly reasonable prices. When they finish all the 183 construction hopefully the commute won't be too bad in that area.

Yeah, the 183 part won't be bad, but 35 and Mopac will just suck it that much more. |

If/when I move there, I won't be working in Austin. So traffic into town isn't a concern.
