Texas is huge, but I'm coming in from out of town to see a friend who just moved to Austin.  Are they any good unregulated spots to go shooting, that won't get us in trouble?

Wouldn't that be nice.

I've done quit a bit of searching and can't find anything of the sorts. When I go to visit family in Georgia we usually go out to a state wildlife refuge area that has a 100 yard public, and free of charge, range. I've looked for something like that here around Austin but to no avail.

I can't stand paying to shoot my guns at a range. I can't wait until I have some property outside of town.
