Dont' know a whole lot about diving, but don't they make water-proof cell phones and a compass.
Not sure how far out they were from shore (website state they were 15 miles out from shore. Is that too far to swim or what?)  but to just paddle there and wait, Damn

Good movie though, just scary that diving guides are that careless.  Makes you say (like Roy S in Jaws) Don't go in the water.

Yeah - that's pretty much a nightmare scenario.

Divemasters are supposed to account for everyone on board. I haven't seen the movie, but someone obviously screwed up to allow that to happen.

We had an acquaintance who went diving around Palau in the South Pacific. There are very strong currents out there, and they almost ended up in the same situation.

Thankfully, I've never been close to that situation. Even so, even the commercials make me uncomfortable enough - I probably won't even watch it.

They found part of their torn up gear and torn up wet suit.

They figure sharks got em..Think it was off the coast of Australia...
