I think most places here in town are a bit on the high side.  I would find someone to do a transfer through and order the weapon you want.  If you want to buy local I would go to the next funshow and don't buy anywhere till you have made at least 2 rounds around the place. OTH I would also check the EE on this site.  I just sold a Bushmaster 16" for $450.00 it was on the board for like 30 mins before it sold so check as often as possible.  I am going to get a RRA as my next AR.

Gunshows. If you want a Bushmaster, the best price I've seen lately was Jeff Schramm out of Dallas.  He seems to be at a lot of the Houston shows.

I was at the pasadena gun show this past weekend(granted, it IS small), and didn't find anything in my price range/configuration I wanted.  Going to check around at the george r brown or reliant shows and see what I can see.

Thanks for the advice :)

Swing by the Front POorch tomorrow night.  One of the members is a dealer and might work something out with you.

What are you looking for?

Type?
Features?

There is a Gun dealer that went out of business that has a Carbon 15 and maybe a few other guns if your interested.

http://www.pgunsinc.com/

And there are a lot of selection at Fountain Firarms on Hwy6 and Bissonet. And a few at Carters Country(Ihate that place) on Murphy Road and 59.

Or you can build your own.

Save some money and buy off the net.  I regret my newbie purchase at a gunshow when I could have saved $100 to spend on ammo.  I only buy handguns at the gunshow.

Think about building your own lower from a stripped lower and then buy a complete upper.  This is a relatively easy, cheap and safe way to do it.

Figure about $100 for the stripped lower and transfer, parts kit at about $50-55, new stock at $50-55 and a new complete upper at about $360-400, you're looking about $600 or so.  Brand spanking new rifle that you put together yourself. Just do it, man.

I'd love to build my own :) Is there a book or something I could use as a guide?

Go back to the home page here at Ar15.com.  Off to the left look for Assembly and click on that and follow it through.  There is also a Build it Yourself forum in the Ar15 section.

Come up north to Shooter's station!!!
Best place in the houston area.  They have great prices, and only 6.25% tax.  They are in Conroe off Highway 105 west by the dam.  Tell Ben or Robert, that Travis sent you.

They are a bushmaster stocking dealer.

Styx, I built my own ar as well.  One thing I did do is pay John at K2 to install my barrell.

Worth the $20. (Tools necessary to do right)

He also sells ar's at a decent price. But Building your own is fun, and teaches you lots.

If you need anyhelp at all, please feel free to ask.   Or if you need, we can hook up and I can help you.  It only takes a few hours to do it.

I got one through an FFL, he works with Rock River.  Sugarland cop and a good guy all around.  IM me if you want to get in touch with him.  cost + $25.  He gets these at dealers cost, too.
