I have heard some rather discouraging talk about the AR15.com National Convention known as 'GUNSTOCK' not happening this October!
Since the success of GUNSTOCK will, in large measure, depend upon the 'Texas Crew', I want to ask y'all if you are still Gung Ho in making this happen, or not???!!! I know y'all don't know all the details, and stuff, but it would appear to me that all of you have a stake in making certain that our fair State comes out looking...well, like Texas should look - GREAT! We have the range secure. We have vendors aplenty. We have almost everything we need. But someone to bring it all together. AROCK could have made it happen! Think about that, my dear Texans! Let me hear from you, one way or the other! Is the Second Weekend in October, 2003, a very real possibility, or some weekend in the Spring of 2004? It may be that if this gets postponed, there will never be another shot at it! The Vendors that we do have lined up, will be very pizzed, and the range owner will be mad as hell, as well. Eric The(ThinkLongAndHardAboutIt)Hun |
OK. What the heck is wrong now?? This sh!t can be done, IF we want to. If we have the range, then IT can be done. If it's not big, then it will be smaller!! I don't have all the details, so I can't comment on how well it would work. |
It can ABSOLUTELY still be done.
All that is needed is the will to carry it forward! To tell you the truth, it's getting a little damn frustrating to have to post so many damn, 'Are 'Ye With Me Boys?' threads about this event! Imagine Col. Travis having to repeat his 'line in the sand' performance over and over again at the Alamo! Eric The(Singleminded)Hun |
... So this is a national convention huh?
I thought is was Texas exclusive. I heard something about Texans not being able to relax comfortably around campfires with Arizona and New York accents and drawls yacking away in the area. |
So it seems like nothing has been done yet, to the point that it won't be one this Oct. How about this: Let have it out of the open so members can figure out a way to help. -Wayne: call me. |
I sure hope this will still happen. If we can get enough people to pitch in, we can probably still do it. Can we get some details on what needs to be done? I wanna help out any way that I can.
OK, I speak as a member here, not moderator. I don't like to bitch or moan, but if we keep dragging our asses, this event won't happen this year; then, we have NO ONE to blame, except ourselves. Posted by ETH: 'We have the range secure. We have vendors aplenty. We have almost everything we need. So what is the problem, Hun? |
There is no problem.
We are going to do this with the indispensable help of our Texan brothers! All we need to do is get going. There is no time to waste. Volunteer to do whatever you can to the organizing committee which ETH heads and which includes: 82nd Abn bung TheRedGoat ilikelegs mojo Remember the Alamo! |
ETH, see your IM from me. Call me guys and lemme know....I do have some time on my hands due to being layed off. I'm already signed up as an RO, but will do other stuff lemme know! Coz_45 |
If any member can help this event on any capacity, please chime in. |
All I know that we need NOW is for registration to be set up and the event to be announced!
I'm calling lordtrader and bung to see what needs to be done to get this accomplished! 'The journey of 10,000 miles begins with the first step.' And we don't have near that far to go. Eric The(ItJustLooksLikeIt!)Hun |
Pour the work on and lets get it done.
Lets get our part done within a matter of weeks! I've never been told what we can do. Since the asshole Arock issue, its kinda been dropped. It might help if we could get access to the Texas event forum too! That way we can see some kind of check list of things to do. |
hey you losers, don't be leaving me out of this, let me know what I can do.
Already planning on being range master. TXL |
I know I'm a little far out to be of much help, but if there is anything i can do, let me know. I want to see this event go off flawless... fullclip |
How aggressive are you going to advertise this to the public?
It will be as aggressive as we can possibly make it! I figure we make a flyer, with all the pertinent info, and then members can copy it and hand it out at gun shows across the nation! I figure that we should be able to draw 300 guests from Texas alone. Can the other 49 states not provide an additional 300 guests? Break even is around 400 paying guests, anything over that will only increase the number of door prizes, etc. No one here is trying to make money on this deal - it's simply a matter of AR15.com pride! I think I can say the word 'pride' around Texans and know that they will know precisely what I mean. So are you in, or are you out? Eric The(NowOrNever)Hun |
Hey Fellas, Yall always know I'm in. Someone IM me on what I can help out with. I know I was going to be an RO for the shoot. LMK
Good idea. If the # of attendees is not up to par, we can pitch in a little to break even. If there's a profit, it can be used as a fund for future GunStock event. I will take extra days off to help this 2003 GunStock. |

mojo, ilikelegs and TheRedGoat have been assigned to teams.
These three can recruit those who wish to help. As soon as we get a chance we will give those 3 access to the planning forum! Thank you, gentlemen! |
I'd be glad to help if I can but I have absolutely no details except there is a range secured and it will be held somewhere around October and that help is needed. How are we supposed to help with details like that? Details please! Where, would be a good starting point.

Post from FullAutoM4gery -
Easy there, Pardner, all your questions will be answered in due time. When? Second weekend of October, 2003. That's the 10th, 11th, and 12th (Friday-Sat-Sun). Where? L T Dillon Range, Watt, Texas. This range is located about 17 miles East of Waco, Texas. That should be enough for you to chew on for now. More to come. Eric The(SlowAndSteadyWinsTheRace)Hun |
ETH, I need you to send me all the details about the range (name, number address, etc.) so I can finish setting up registration.
Do we want to get together Saturday for lunch and sort out some of the details?
Damn straight! Let's just do it! Eric The(Unattached)Hun |
Here is the name of the facility: L. T. Dillon Shooting Sports Facility, Hwy 84, Watt, Texas Here is the website: www.wacoforsale.com/ltd/ See if you can find a zip code. Let's get together on Saturday for certain! Eric The(Hardworking)Hun |
Lets see... we'd have to include : Red neck MOABs Snakes Bump firing contests How to skin and cook your roadkill Snipe Hunts Firework Displays Full auto toys |
Hey, Sparsky, don't forget:
'Cooking With Tequila' with Eric The Hun. Not that I actually use tequila in any of my recipes, I just drink it while cooking! BTW, my brother, Clyde The Hun, has since renamed my Hun's Famous 'Windex' Margarita to the Hun's Famous 'Tidy Bowl' Margarita! Hmmmm, 'Tidy Bowl' does have a nice ring to it! Eric The(ButIThought'TidyBowl'MeantNo'Ring')Hun |
I'm in. ILL-- I would like to be on your team. Call me. I have idea-- one in particular.
ETH: I will call you. I need some info. |
I tried to find the zip code off the US postal service website and ended up with "Mart Texas 76664" Sorry guess that's not much help |
Thanks Hun, So, is there anything I can do to help? Not sure I'm going to be able to attend though. My wife's 30th high school reunion is in Wichita Falls on the 10th and 11th. Of course, I don't want to go to the reunion and she doesn't like guns, so maybe we'll just go opposite directions. |

Actually GB has the websie built. We just need to link to the credit card portal that Bungs company offers. Linking these two is all we need. All others can be worked on between now and again.
Bank account is set Mailling address is set. ETH, there are a few things that needs to be done regarding the Articles of Inc. and updating the bank signors. A few other little details that I would rather not discuss in public. ETH, I will e-mail you and Bung to see what time to meet on Sat. |
Maybe once the offical site is up make link for tasks/people/jobs still needed.
I will be willing to offer some assistance depending on what you guys need. BTW I noticed on the website for the range that it was for sale. Does anyone know what they are asking for it($$$$)??? |
With the sluggish economy I know a couple of the Wa. crew should be able to take advantage of some super low airfare deals. I am positive a few of us could make it down. Anything I can do just let me know.
ETH, Like I told you this past weekend, just before it started raining sideways, that I would be honored to assist in any way I can. I promised LT that I would help out as a RO or RM as he requested. I extend that promise to you and the AR15.com community. I will do whatever needs to be done to make this event a great success. Put me in coach, I'm ready to play! Who wants me on their team?
To everyone, stop bitching about what Arock, KellyR, and DonR coulda, woulda or shoulda done. That whole incident was FUBAR, but where would we be if they had all died in a car accident or a tornado? I'll tell you where we would be...exactly right where we are now. I only know one way to handle a situation like this. Redistribute their packs and responsibilities among those of us still here, and carry on with the mission. Mission first, people always. Been that way since November 10th 1775 and it ain't bound to change anytime soon. Saddle up and move forward. |
The nearest zip I could find is 76678 (Prairie Hill). |
Sir, you are correct, Let's do it! |
At least he didn't call it "2000 Flushes". |
Someone toss something my way. We need to get this off the ground. What can I do to help?
Can any of you guys get a hold of Ted Nugent ?
We need him there. Someone can be in charge of that. Talk amoungst yourselves. |
Heck yeah, Spars. What's your schedule like from Oct 9-12? BTW, if Ms. Spars wants to offer another hand, it would be great. Thanks. |
Well said DP. How about we're working together to achieve a common goal? BTW, Thanks, brother. |
If you guys need help that doesn't require someone local-like mailing out flyers, you should be sure to let us know so we can help out and you guys can focus on work that requires people in the area.
Well put DPeacher! let me know if I can be of any help!!!! |
