Welcome to WWWV   Axehandle7   Sleepy Creek WMA is the only local public range in this area I know of. I was there last Sunday for a couple hundred rounds of 45ACP. There were quite a few black rifles there as well, nobody seemed too concerned about the 3 round rule.

What time were you up there bro,? My buddy and I were there from apox. 11:30-2:30. 3rd bench from the left I think, buddy had a Remmy bolt gun and I was burning up .45acp in my Sig and Kimbers....Udog

We were there from about 2:45pm til 4:30 I think. I was the only one there with a 45 from what I noticed. Most others were playing with wheel guns.

I live in Charles Town, Jefferson County.

I just purchased my 1st AR 2 weeks ago.  New RRA entry tactical. I usualy go to The Cove in Gore VA to go shooting.  Anyone else shoot there?

This seems to be a great site with a wealth of knowledge.  I have already built myself a sling from the post found on here.

Charleston area (between Cross Lanes and Poca, to be exact).

Not living there now -- I'm suffering through law school at the moment, but I'll be heading home just as soon as I graduate.

I did most of my shooting at the Eleanor range before I had to move away, although I used to go to the Kanawha State Forest range occasionally. Still, I tried to avoid it due to the number of fools there. Eleanor is by far the better range.

When I worked in Nitro I would get stopped on the top of that bridge everyday during 5 o'clock traffic. That sucker would bounce your car up and down and sway back and forth. I had a girlfriend that would almost have a panic attack sitting up there.

I go out of my way to avoid that bridge. It's held up remarkably well over the years, but the older it gets, the less I trust it. I hear they're going to replace it, but it's hard to tell how long that will take because the area around it is so built-up.

Im the only one ever at sleepy creek with a black rifle and an ak I wish the other shooters there would stop giving me the evil eye its a shooting range not a "come sight your 30.06 in 2 weeks before hunting season range"

I never go there anymore because i wont go alone. I don't trust  most of the toothless  hillbilly's that go there.  Hell if all the local members  that shoot at sleepy creek want to  get together and  go up. That should show em.  I have tried to get people to go. But never have any takers. So its the Dark dungeon of Sparks for me and my solo ass.

Quite a few of us used to shoot ay Sleepy Creek often, then the B.S. rule of the no High cap mags and such came out and we stayed away.

I like the place myself.

Anyone back home have a Strip job we could shoot on with permission? I have a few folks here in Virginia looking for some long distance.

Perhaps it is time for a Mountaineer get together, I have a .338 Lapua that needs breaking in.

Armalite AR30, Virginia arms did the transfer from the factory.

When the Remington MP in .338 Lapua hits I have one on reserve from Virginia Arms as well.

That's only because the Chelyan Bridge was replaced.

I grew up in Pratt in the upper Kanawha valley. Just a few miles from Montgomery. Went to East Bank HS and WV Tech. Moved to Fla in the late 80's when there was no work. Moved to Columbia SC and married my wife who is from the Beckley area. I get back up a few times a year. I miss it, but not the snow...
