I caught the first one. I was taking a break from home projects and listening to two bobcats next door grading the guys front yard to get it ready to put out seed. Typical rumble coming from them all day. But all of a sudden, something sounded like long rolling thunder that was very different from the construction going on. Cat was sitting in my lap and jumped up and then you could feel the house shaking slightly,
Been a while since I actually felt one. Did not notice the smaller ones that came later. |

"long rolling thunder" ... reminds me of the last one that was between Columbia and Aiken. I wish I was home but I wasn't. At the time of today's event, I was at I-26E and US-1 in a GMC truck with a 6.6L Duramax diesel (a mobile earthquake in and of itself) wondering why the I-26W and US-1 exit was on fire.

|
I thought it was truck going by but I was also rolling back in my chair when it happened. Had my neighbor not texted me to ask if I'd felt it I wouldn't have even realized what it was.

I was outside clearing brush back on my farm roads all day. I never heard or felt anything. I'm about halfway between Elgin and Blythewood.
|
|
In Sumter, a fellow ARFCOM member sent me a text asking if I felt it. Nope, notta, nothin. I was driving at the time and in a car rolling down the highway you aren't going to feel much and if you do it will just seem like a small rough patch.
I am bummed, all these little shakes every year and I NEVER feel a single one for various reasons. |

I felt it, barely.
Was sitting in my office between Bville and Camden. Thought it was just a Shaw plane making noise. Then the window pane started rattling for a bit and I knew it was a Category F-5 Super-HurriNader Earthquaker! There have been several bigger ones that I felt much better over the last 25 years. The one in '04 ish was decent in these parts. |

You call those things "earthquakes"? Sheeeeeit. Try Kommiefornia. Those are earthquakes (San Diego, 1985).
The last earthquake I remember experiencing was in 1986 in central Ohio. A 2.8 that really bumped the house. I did hear something yesterday evening that sounded like thunder off in the distance but dismissed it. |
|
I felt it here near St Andrews in Columbia.
I would describe it as a long rumble. I thought it was F16s flying overhead heading to Shaw since they frequently fly right over my house, around the same time of the day. But the rumble never got “overhead loud” like jets do when their sound transitions from coming to going. It vibrated the house like a train was passing by. Having spent my childhood on Camp Pendleton, i have experienced shaking and sliding earthquakes. This type I had not experienced before. It didn’t shake or sway anything in the house, just rumble/vibration. |

Seems that there were more this morning.
How many does that make now? |
|
If I remember correctly, I think it is up to 5 in the past few days.

#6 this morning. Following a fault line if you look at a map? Might have the big one coming.
|
|
Looking at the WLTX app overlays, it shows 2 this morning.
The only one that I noticed was the first one. Maybe the threat of quakes will keep Yankees away?? Fingers crossed and hoping!! |
|
By “the first one”, I meant the first one on Monday.
This cluster of quakes does make on wonder if there is something bigger in store. |
|

Scott, that looks conveniently close to water.
Perhaps a lake??!!! LOL |

There may have been another one this afternoon.
We thought we heard thunder but it wasn't storming, just a light rain with this thick overcast and no other booms. Hmmm. The dog growled and acted weird so it very well have been one. |
|
Sister N Law lives on Wateree.
She heard a boom earleir this afternoon. USGS isnt showing anything yet. I bet the insurance companies are making bank right now selling quake insurance since most home owners policies do not cover damage by quake. |
|
Oh shit. Wife said #7 just hit.
Edit from WIS: According to the USGS, the most recent earthquake measured in at a 2.36 magnitude at 2:11 p.m |

It’s very possible that it is probable for it to maybe kinda sorta could have been caused by the wind.
Or not. |

Looks like the earthquake dropped a medium-sized tree behind my neighbor's house. Thankfully, it fell with the slope away from the in-ground pool.
The earthquake didn't knock the sand off the brass that I picked up in the rain at Panteao last week. In fact, none of the earthquakes did anything to the sandy brass stuffed in a box since October. Either I need a bigger earthquake or need to get off my happy ass and apply water and tumbling in an old media separator. |

Had one at 12:30 am and another at 8:31 am. Can't wait to see what Lucky #13 brings us! |

We didn’t have these problems before My 600lb Life started airing.

Reflecting back to last night, I remember feeling and hearing the one at 12:30. Even made the comment to myself, "Well shit, there's another" But checked my cell phone just to make sure it wasn't that I woke up to with it on vibrate.
I wonder if I should shut down my Elgin Fracking locations? |
|
The End? Nah, the 600 lb lives on scooters en route to the Es Ca Ca gun show.

They are building a secret underground base to host the the tic tac aliens. It is going in under the lake Wateree Dam.
Or not... I haven't felt a single rumble in Sumter but I live close to Shaw so I always experience noise and rumbles from there. |

WIS is where I got the info.....I was in a bar shooting pool when it happened and didn't notice a thing. The first one back on Dec 27th was a 3.3. The one yesterday was a 2.1
