As others have said the short answer is no.

Problem is even if you unload the gun, and keep the ammo and gun in separate containers, you would still have to be travelling directly to a place where you are allowed to have the gun for the FOPA of 1986 to cover you. All handguns must be registered in NJ. So just possessing one is a felony level crime in NJ (NJ doesn't use the felony/misdemeanor terms in their statutes). Since you are not a NJ resident, there is no way for you to register a gun there.

Not suggesting this but this may be legal: Perhaps you could have a NJ gun owner meet you in PA and lend you a pistol. Then travel directly to a hotel room in NJ with the gun unloaded and in a separate container from the ammo of course. Go into the hotel room and load the gun. Have the seller come to the hotel room and sell you the machine. This way you could legally be armed in case of any shenanigans.

You can't LEGALLY bring it here under the circumstances you mentioned . If you do just don't get caught with it or your going to be arrested and sit in jail.

Unless the OP can meet the seller at a shooting range, and conduct his transaction there, it would be illegal for him to be transporting a firearm in NJ.  NJ allows for the transportation of an unloaded firearm (in a securely fastened case, or locked in the trunk of the vehicle) between a place of residence and an authorized place of target practice.  See NJSA 2C:39-6f(3).

Drop it in PA, go to Farmingdale and pick up your equipment. You'll be fine. This isn't Mosul, as long as you stay out of Newark and Camden you'll be fine.

It is a safe state if you stay away from the democratic run shitholes just like most any other state.

On second thought the OP did say he is buying a roll making machine......that is a lot of dough......maybe he should hire armed security?
