You will never build one as cheap as you can buy a complete rifles. Especially buying parts from Fultons

I had heard that it's actually because during the Newark riots in the 60s a Carbine plant was overrun and Carbines were taken in great numbers so they banned them in NJ. Any truth to the story? |

A common story being told at the time of the ban was that the carbine wasn't originally on the list. Until that is, there was a (bank?) robbery somewhere in north jersey and one of the perps had one. |

Yeah it's very ironic that m1 carbines are illegal since most commercial copies were made in New Jersey. I think the riots and Plainfield machine company had something to do with it, but I think it may have been more political than that.
