Don't know if they're air rifles or section 1....?


Thieves managed to break through a reinforced door to steal rifles and ammunition from a village rifle club.

Police believe that the thieves broke through the door with sledgehammers to enter the Tonbridge Rifle Club, in Scabharbour Lane, Hildenborough.

After gaining entry, the offenders cut through concrete blocks and steel rods to enter the armoury.

Twenty rifles and ammunition were taken during the incident which happened between 2.30pm on Sunday, January 29 and 2pm on Monday, January 30.

Tyre tracks suggest a 4x4 vehicle had gone across fields to get to the club.

A spokesman for West Kent Police said: "Police would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles in the area or who has information about this incident or the whereabouts of the items stolen."

Thats why English gun laws should change.  The guns should go home at night with club members so they can be secured by the individual members and that way all guns won't be lost in one incident.  This way they could also be watched a little better.

Most likely club guns stored on the premises, and then mixture of calibres but most likely firearms rather than air rifles. The armoury should have had an alarm fitted that would call a central station, who would in turn call the police. Mine has a 5 mins response time and they get here a darn sight quicker when it happens (false alarms so far). I guess that's a result of having an armoury on the boundary of an airport.

I'll get the lost/stolen/found reports at the beginning of each month, I'll check to see if they're listing the firearms and what they are.

My club has a very substantial armoury, shared with another club , at the indoor range where we shoot. Its all alarmed up too, similar to scope-eyes central station setup I'd imagine.

It has a couple of bolt action .22 rimfires, a .357 mag marlin and a 7.62, all club guns, plus some ammo....

Its like fort knox though....wouldnt  fancy trying to break in.....

Fair call, would have to say though that nothng is unstealable!!!

My guess is that some wanderer sniffed out the premises beforehand and had a buyer for the goods afterwards............... educated guess there!!!

The club in question was not, if not, ill prepared for the assault and so guns were stolen....

These are the guns that will no doubt turn up on ITN when hey are usded against some civvy in a job...

One of the clubs im a member of has its range as part of a complex of  the business industrial and recreational facilities. To gain enterance to the range you have to collect the keys from security and sign them out (only cerain club members can do this). Once you have done this you can open up the club house, which is alarmed before you can get enterance to the armory, which is seperaltly alarmed)

The other week i know a club member forgot the code to the club house alarm (or punched it in wrong) and the alarm went off, which is as you would expect is linked to the police. did they turn up - no

They did ring securtiy where the keys are collected, but anything could have been happening there, including the securitly people being impersonated or threatened.

compare this to when they came to collect a gun from a members locker (not for bad reasons, although i wont go into that here now), when the officer collecting the rifle came with full tactical team escort all tooled up with their mp5s and body armour!

easy rifle collection compared to start of possible robbary starting. As above where the hell where they? I arrived a few mins after my friend had opened up so i know they didnt turn up.

I have a friend who i saw at a party yesterday. I learnt after uni he became a police officer. I hadnt seen him in two years but out of curiosity i asked him if he manages to get out the office? he reconeded he spent about half his time in the office answering emails for info or doing paperwork. No wonder they cant respond as they are all tied up doing sodding paperwork.
