Following on from Matt's "Back from the SR Champs" thread, I've decided to start a fresh one and make it a pictorial one.

Bob and I got there on saturday and had the chance to get our zero's and do some practise with our friends in the RAF.
After a full day on the ranges, we went to spectate at the Military FIBUA match.
FIBUA stands for "Fighting in Built Up Area's". In America, it's called MOUT (Military Operations, Urban Terrain)
Here's some pics of the match.
This is Nelson Range, Pirbright

This is our own ACR26 at the 100yd line (note the trigger control)

Practise 1, 10rds in 60 secs from the window
That man again, the only one with a decent shooting stance

CQB at 75yds

Monday morning 07.45 on Century Range, Bisley and a most unusual occurance happened....
Dave was actually spotted in the Butts

Totally confused....

Meanwhile, back on the firing point, the other detail gets ready to shoot the Bisley Bullet.

Prone sniping at 200yds, 10x3sec exposures
Here's Nick

Australian Army shooter with Steyr Aug and Elcan

Next up, the 200yd sitting
10 rds in 40 seconds (25 for the mil)

Chief Range Officer (and top bloke)

We Civvies shoot alongside the Military at all times

This is Mangle

A reasonable score

Practise 3, 100yds standing
5 double exposures of 3 secs up, 2 secs down and 3 secs up, first shot standing, second kneeling

Some people even use wooden guns!!

Scoring

Next came the 300yd match.
3 different practises, a mixture of deliberate and rapid fire events.

Tuesday was Queen Mary day.
The highlight of this is the dreaded 500-100 rundown
10rds, 2 at each distance. at 500&300 prone, at 400&200 sitting and 100 standing

Finally they reach 100yds

On the way back

Tuesday evening saw a new match, the MMT (Mechanised Moving Target)This was shot on Langley Range, Pirbright)
The Range

On the line

Moving targets (fig 20's)

It's raining again.........but we're still happy

Wednesday was the Methuen Cup. This is the big event.
35 teams of 6 shooters including 8 Civilian teams.
Ready for the match at 300

Waiting for scores

Scorin' it

Captain Scope-Eye

An Irish Ranger.....Great Guy

Waiting for scores at 100yds

Coming back after the 300-100 team run-down

Teams
The winning HRA A & B teams combined

The Wooden Gun Association

The Royal Ghurka Rifles

The Royal Navy, protecting our shores as usual.....

The RAF...........SCRAMBLE

I said  SCRAMBLE

Australians

Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces

The prize table

Someone lets slip that there's a free cup of tea and cream cakes going....

Filling our faces with freebies

All very civilised

After we've been thrown out of the VIP tent.....we thought it was for us..honest

And finally, we get presented with our trophy.
That's 5 years in a row guys, can anybody stop us?????????????????????????

The Royal Ghurka Rifles, top British Army Team

Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces, top Overseas team

In the Navy/Marines match, the Marines were the winners

The top Brass leave

The Civilian scoreboard, we were actually 5th overall

Finally, a few other pics
The sniping house at Pirbright

Me on Guard duty at the aforementioned house....

And lastly, The SA80A2

It must be said that the SA80 is now a fine and reliable weapon.
Also, the accuracy can't be questioned.
The only drawback is the long, heavy trigger pull.......or so I've been told

Hope you enjoyed the pics

Mark

All in all, a good few days shooting.

(My ankle still aches though from trying to break it in a small ditch on the run-down though...)

Wow!!  An outstanding set of photos and a very impressive performance.  Cheers!

Thanks for sharing the pics.

You're welcome
They're there to be shared.

And as you can see, even though our laws are more restrictive than places such as the US, we still have fun.
And lots of it

+1,
one thing we can do is have fun, and with surplus fun to spare, so we can share it out to anyone else who wants a bit!
