I don't really know about yourselves but I tend to do random intelligence gathering on the www, the info that I glean from this otherwise fruitless surfing is considered for what it is and where I got it and I try to make it all fit into a nice little picture. I picked up on this over at
calguns forum.
Not sure if this is the right place to post but got an email from two sources in Germany that the Bundestag is meeting to discuss the banning of all handguns and possibly all guns.
But is seems handguns for sure are on the hot list since the school shooting earlier this year.
Several people from Nills Grips are travelling the several hundred kilometres to the Reichstag in Berlin to testify against this looming ban.
Not a clue what we can do from here, but maybe send positive thoughts?
I'm going to write the Chancellor an email. Not sure if it will make any difference at all, especially coming from an American.
That's it, just thought to let you all know.
That was dated September the 10th 2009.
Then there is the European unions drive to get the Lisbon Treaty passed, which for those who don't know what it's about:-
Here are some of the things the treaty does:
Establish an EU president for a 2 and a half year term. Tony Blair is a candidate for this position, and with Sarkozys support, he's likely to get it.
Establishes a foreign policy post called the 'High representative' - She/He will speak for Europe as a single entity on foreign policy matters.
Countries would lose their commissioners for 1 term out of every 3.
Changes the voting laws removing many national veto's (but not defence or right to life issues). Voting would be based on population bases rather than statehood, (ie. big population like france, UK, Germany more votes, small population like Ireland, Holland, Denmark less votes)
Gives the Union more power over a countries Judicial system and law enforcement (though Ireland have negotiated an opt-out from this). Gives the Union more say over Climate change and the environment.
National parliaments will be included in the legislative process and the size of the commission will be reduced making it more democratic.
Passes the Charter of Human Rights into law and makes it legally binding to all member states.
Now if this treaty comes to pass, and the right
dishonourable Tony Blair is in charge for the first two year's, then I guess we will all be looking for a new hobby, as his attitude to privately owned firearms is reflected in the UK's ban and legislation.
When I said:-
However this knowledge furthers our understanding of what caused this madness, it will never excuse the actions of a desperate young man, who for all intents and purposes needed help, whose society of stoic silence failed him, and is in all probability responsible for his actions.
It was taken out of context, and not as part of the whole sentence, in which it belonged.
Taken as you quoted it you would be correct, at the end of the day Tim K. did the crime, but being thorough in my research I like to get as many facts as possible.
While we are thinking about responsibility, one only needs to look to the world leader's past and present for guidance and example setting in this area, not.
