I'm looking to pick up a Sig P229, but before I do, I'd like to hear the pros and possible cons before buying. I'm also looking @  the M-11/A1, but my understanding is there are minor differences in the 2 models, so I'm leaning more toward the P229. Thanks

Another 229 owner here.  Have had it a long time, but not that many rounds through it.  Probably less than 1000 rounds. Originally 40 SW, added a 357 Sig barrel.   Pros : great pistol, if you like DA/SA . Don't remember ever having a functioning problem. Con expensive and somewhat heavy.  If you are near Rio Rancho, you could try it out.

I started out with Glocks, but have taken to the Sig line lately. I do have a Sig 2340 that I've run .40 & .357 Sig thru. Then I acquired the P226 MK25. I do like the fact that the P229 is somewhat smaller than the P226. I agree that the mags are a bit pricey, compared to other pistols I own, but in the case of the 2340, I can run 2 calibers from one gun with just a barrel swap. I'll probably pick up an extra barrel to add some "versatility" as .357 Sig can be picked up @ decent prices from time to time. Thanks for the feedback so far!

I've only shot a P226 chambered in .40, but it was bad ass! I would pick up one of those M-11 A1s if I wasn't stuck on FN products for the foreseeable future. The size and ergonomics were some of the best features that I can think of when considering the Sig line. I'm also a sucker for a good DA/SA when it comes to a carry weapon.

Ive owned 226 in 9mm loved it. 226 and 229 basic same, I cant tell much of a differnce beside a little size. You should enjoy one if you get one!

I've had a p225, 226, 228, and 229. All were 9mm except my 229 in 40. Traded all but my 228 because I went mostly HK.  Between my 228 & 229, I liked the frame size for 9mm more so I traded the 229 in favor of a USPc in .40.  That being said, I never had issues with any of my sigs and would recommend their 22x line without hesitation. Not sure about the newer sigs though.
