So has a NM Hometown Forum shoot ever occured? I was wondering because I am pretty new to the Alb. area. It just seems like a good way to meet other BRD sufferers and also get info on good ranges/areas to shoot.

We have them occasionally up here in Farmington.
About 2 years ago there were a few in the Las Cruces area. Getting participation is a bitch. |
|
I'm in HI the next month but after that up for a shoot at Zia or even the City Range.
What brings you to Albuquerque? |

The Elmo doll is okay, but you need to deposit the remains in the garbage can. ie, leave no trash on the range. BBQs are common during many shoots. I personally like a Bratwurst during/after an afternoon of gunplay. A swap meet sounds great. As far as gas money for the Charmigton guys................I'm sure we could work something out. |

You see, this Afghanistan thing is going to keep me from visiting NM until February. The last NM HTF shoot I attended was comprised of only two ARFCOMmers and an attachment, including myself. Maybe the next will have more attendance. |

We must be afraid to stand too close together or something... |

As far as a swap meet,
I was thinking something discreet, like keeping stuff in the vehicles, or selling it out of an ice cream truck |

Ain't nothing wrong with exchanging goods at the Z. Unless you're dealing something illegal Oh, I get it. ice cream truck..................Cheech and Chong......................Nice Dreams. |

Well,
I was thinking vehicles, as opposed to setting up tables and looking like a flea market. But, hey, I can do tables. |

So is their a chance that this will make after all. Seems like their is more interest than previous attempts.

Hate to be a bubble burster but in the past we have 50% attendance, at best, of those who say they can come at the time everyone works their schedule around to make happen. But, on a plus side 50% will show up. Figure out a date and go from there. |

Moved here six months ago......gona have to follow this one sounds like fun

Well,
If we want good attendance, We just gotta come up with a suitable prize for the best shot. First, Bragging Rights. He who shoots best, shall henceforth be referred to by NMHTF members as....??? Second, Swag. We all pitch in something from our swap table items. Third, Cash. Anyone competing in the iron sights shoot, adds a buck to the kitty, for each attempt at a better score. Winner takes all. Limit of five attempts per person. Just thinking aloud, lets hear your ideas! |

I can come out and play if it's on a Sunday. I'm not a Zia member yet. I have a brand new AAC Blackout flash hider that I will contribute to the prize pool.
I also have an "Icecream Truck" |
|
OK, I'm posting a poll in another thread.
What kind of shoots do we want to do? I sort of like the "Grapefruit Challenge," where you have to shoot into a 5"- 6" circle. Different distances, different positions (standing, kneeling/crouching, prone). I set one up at the Los Cruces shoot last year. Start at, say, 10 yards (make it easy). Everyone shoots 5 rounds. Move back 5 yards, repeat. Anyone who hits outside the target is eliminated. Last man standing wins! Then do the same from a crouching/kneeling/sitting position. Then from prone. OKAY, THE POLL IS UP! |

Actually, I think it was more than 300 yards, with a 10-25 knot wind from 5:O'Clock. Yes, that was a phenomenal shot. You must really come back sometime, and show us how you did it. |
|
I couldn't even see a clay pigeon at 250 yards, much less hit one.

This still happening? I am not a member of Zia but I would like to check it out.
|
|
I'm in, not a member of Zia but I'm down to go shooting even if there is no prize.
