Just heard the news a few hours ago. She was driving through Mescalero near the hunting lodge and nailed it going about 45. She said the poor thing was crying for about 30 minutes before somebody shot it (BIA or Sheriff's Deputy). They actually called in to get permission to shoot it and did not recieve it for about 15 minutes. She said the front end of the car is totaled. Will be out to look at it tomorrow.

What road was she on?? I am not sure where the lodge is....
It's not surprising that the officer was delayed in putting the animal down. Some people decided that officers were being to quick to put animals down when struck by vehicles. Some people.....

I'm not sure of the name of the road but its about 2 miles west of the Inn of the Mountain Gods.
