My wife is helping her sister move to Florida this week and they will be driving down this week. The routes they're looking at are through Memphis and Atlanta or Little Rock,Jackson,Mobil. With the blm crap going on I'd rather they didn't go through Memphis or Atlanta. They will be leaving Thursday afternoon and would like to drive about 5 or 6 hours before stopping for the night. This would put them at McGehee is this a good town to stay overnight in,any decent motels good places to eat?Any information is appreciated.

McGehee is basically a wide spot in the road (~4200 population) so not much of anything worth stopping for.  What are her starting/ending points on the trip?

ETA:  Think there is a Super 8 there.

They're leaving from Tulsa and going to Fort Meyers.
The only thing they will be stopping for is a place to eat and sleep and gas.

I have made the trip from Springdale to Ft Myers several times since my SIL lives in FT Myers and we have spent a few winters down there.

We usually drove through LR to Tallulah, LA to Vicksburg, Hattiesburg to Mobile.  There are several areas of two lane and four lane non-limited access, with stop lights through towns.  Highway 98 through Mobile can be frustrating sometimes.  Have them take I-65 to I-10 if they go that way.

The last trip we went through Memphis,  Birmingham, Montgomery, Dothan, to I-10.  If they go this way take the I-55 bridge across the Mississippi River, rather than the I-40 bridge.  This is the way I will go on future trips.

I don't really know much about Mcgehee except it is a small delta town.  I doubt there is much crime, but I don't know that.

EDIT:
We stayed at the Best Western Dothan Inn & Suites the last time down.  It was a decent safe motel.  We only stopped once , but tend to drive for 10-12 hours a day.

It may be a little longer if you want to bypass LR and Memphis, but you could drive south and hit I-20 in Shreveport, LA.  I have stayed there several times - generally with cheap room at one of the casinos - and never had any issues.

Drive I40 East out of LR to Brinkley exit (hwy 49) , go from Brinkley to Helena, where you cross the Mississippi River.  When you hit the stoplight at Hwy 61, take a right, and go to Clarksdale MS/ Hwy 6.  Take Hwy 6 to Batesville MS, and you hit I55 there.

Very easy drive, is 4 lane most of the way, and no cities or traffic.  I used to travel from NW Arkansas to Gulf Shores fairly often on business and started going this route to avoid Memphis traffic.

Do slow down when you go through Marvell.  Speed trap there.
