Been awhile since I've used sims. Gonna try for the OCT 24th-25th slots. What is the uniform of the day/night. All I can dig up online is OP4 wearing denims?

Looks like I'm gonna have a gear problem. If anyone has any loner gear they would be willing to let an old Marine use, I would be appreciative. Had to cancel my bank card yesterday, so I'll have limited ability to purchase needed things this week. All I'm looking for is an old flak jacket and a chest rig of some sort. Anything better than a flak jacket is icing on the cake I guess. Thanks |

A BDU top worked fine for me Saturday, since my chest rig took most of the impacts. Just mind the gap between your face shield and your helmet
 , during one of the micro-battles a guy finished me off with a "coup de grace" and managed to get a shot into my forehead. Those make a nice beauty mark.

I've had the pleasure of basically having UTMs vs bare skin. It was a summer weight shirt and did Nothing against the lil basards.
After that, you pretty well stop bitching. 
If anyone is coming down Monday night you can see my "DARC uniform". I very rarely leave with bruises other than rounds slipping between my mask and helmet or coming up my sleeve. |

On a side note I'll be out there Friday night with a baofeng uvr5 to do comms if anyone else wants to plan on bringing a radio. Especially if we can get a decent NVG/Thermal scope to watch for those who would invade our peaceful village... I will have my Wouxon KG-UV6D, but am not scheduled for Friday. I might be able to "work my way up the ranks" though as I have taken that day off. I ordered one of those heavy duty throat mics, but if it doesn't show up in time I'll just incorp some headphones onto my remote mic. Transmitting would sound like crap through those masks, but It'll get the job done. -t |

Throat mic check. It showed up today. Made contact on the local repeater. Feedback was "bodacious sounding." That's never a bad thing.
If we're going to have non-HAM's participating in comms, I imagine we'll have to use the MURS or GMRS freqs. I suspect our antennas aren't very efficient on those freqs, but given our proximity to each other, it should work quite well. There is a decent readup on those here: http://www.captainswoop.com/radio/uhf.html I'd say the cheapest route would be to scoop up a Baofeng UV-5R variant HT radio. Hamcity.com has them domestically and you might be able to get one in time. Make sure you get a remote hand mic at minimum, as you can string some regular headphones (like iphone ones) to that and you'll at least be able to listen. HT radio: https://www.hamcity.com/store/pc/UV-5R-UU-BK-p2803.htm Throat Mic (takes a week for shipping from this source): Click Total about $100 + shipping. Phrase of the evening, "Lay some hate."
Well, I have a head ache and I am quite sore after the first night, which is the easy night. For me, hand protection was key. For others, forearms. Those opfor weapons are hell on earth as far cleanliness and reliability, but the heroes had the same issues probably just not as much. No comms on the first night, but there isn't a need for it really. Too much noise and close quarters chaos. I need thicker pants. My quads will thank me. The carharrt flannel lined utility shirt I used was perfect for this. The impact gloves I bought off the exchange were great for manipulation, but horrible for protection. The protective vests they had on hand were good, although I wish I wasn't so fat. I had a hard time keeping it over my belly, so I took a couple of zingers there. All in all, it was a real eye opener and a ton of fun. You learn how "stay small" reall quick, that's for dang sure. Some of those hero guys were really good shooters, others not so much. It was really interesting to see how aggressive some were and others weren't. There were two other Marines on opfor but everyone was as aggressive as we could be within the parameters they gave us. I think everyone on opfor was current or prior service military, so it was nice. I think I'm the only one returning form last night for tonight though. |

For guns if you use break cleaner + brush on the barrel and heavy rem oil on the bolt, firing pin, charging handle and upper I usually have one or two malfunctions a night. You'll find out about good shooters on their side. |
