Hey all,

Have some family coming in and they are looking to do a salmon/halibut full day fishing trip out of Homer or Seward on a smaller 6-8 person boat. Price point about $300 per person, willing to go a bit higher if the captain/company is worth the trip. Looking around the weekend of August 20-22. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. This would be my first as well.

No Excuses out of Valdez was good to us.  We went south of Montegue island, open ocean, average fish on the boat was >100 lbs.  Don't let them fool you.  BIG fish taste just as good as the little ones.

It was a few years ago, wife got sick.

The charter captain's wife asked my wife if she had been fishing before, and she replied, "yes, I used to go out on weekends with my dad."  There is a difference between weekend fishing on the coast in a fishing town, and camping on a lake with a canoe...

I used Homer ocean charters and they were pretty awesome. I’d definitely use them again. They seem to have a package right at the price point and passengers you are looking for. As for availability you’d have to check. Attachment Attached File

if you go out of Seward or Valdez Silver salmon should be plentiful in the bays, halibut will require a run

My brother ended up booking a mixed charter out of Homer. I can't remember off the top of my head which he picked. I know availability ended up playing a big part of our selection. I told him he should have mentioned this idea a little earlier in the year.
