Went there, he had one DPMS lower left.  Not quite what my friend was looking for.  He still had some accessories and as always, very friendly.

I agree, there is a shop in the valley which will remain nameless where you need a "VIP" card for people to be friendly to you.  Otherwise, you are just another joe that wants to finger all the guns...

I bought a CMMG lower from Ammocan a week or two ago. Nice guy at the counter, a pleasant change from the normal Gunstore snobbery.

If those receivers are stripped I call panic pricing (or local Anchorage prices...however one wants to see it).  I can buy a NIB Colt 6920 for $1,300 shipped today which is probably why I hardly ever buy local.  If I were in the market I'd rather save $200 and use that for mags or ammo.  Granted I've only been selling (to a lot of our members without jacked up prices!).

Believe it or not that isnt even bad
I have a friend who wanted an AR
He was looking to spend 1K on one, I tried to help him out, but DPMS was backordered for 6+ months and that is what he said he wanted.
He went to Sportsmans Warehouse and found a Bushmaster Varmiter for $1200.  I told him that was reasonable, but he wanted a carbine.
So I told him to try ProTec.  He went in and there was nothing on the walls, so he asked Bill if he had any ARs.  Bill told him just one Colt (16" A3, non M4).  He paid just a hair under $1600 for the rifle and then bought accessories for it.
I damn near choked and didnt have the heart to tell him he could have bought one for several hundred dollars less on line.
He was happy though.
I had hoped that he would buy the BM and I would have bought his upper from him.

I guess the gent I sold my last NIB Bushmaster to a couple weeks ago got a great deal at $850 (after the election)

ProTec is hands down the best AR/balck rifle store in Fairbanks and probably up there with Alaska Tactical as far as best in the state.  Bill knows his shit and he and his wife provide top notch CS.  His prices are on the high side, but that seems to be the norm any more.
They are located on Van Horn in a little L shaped strip mall next to the Cafe

I though AR prices were bad, I saw a FN FS2000 on the wall tonight for $2699  I could swear it was $2199 when I looked at it last time.
Almost kicking myself that I parted with mine two months ago.
Oh well.....

People are buying them.

A lot of people just don't price shop. People in town have always been high. I can buy almost everything online cheaper including shipping and transfer fees. And i don't have to deal with grumpy people behind the counter and the BS that goes along with it at some of the places.

I called every shop in town asking about Wolf .223. Every shop said they were out or didn't know when they would be getting more. A couple of very rude NO's like i was a burden calling them to try and find out. Silly me should have just known they would be out. I put an add up on 907 asking $365 a case and i had a half dozen calls in the first hour. Straight up ill take it's.

I just bought 2 new DPMS lowers for $165 ea and anticipate buying another one or two when the next shipment gets in (as long as price stays level)

Not that great, bought one a couple of months ago for $115, but atloeast I have some extra in my safe.

Thinking Im going to build my girls each a hello kitty AR to have (hopefully forever)  If I gift them the lowers for Christmas, they will be covered hopefully from any stupidity that comes from Obamus

I saw a few AR's while I was out shopping for primers last night. Incase anyone is looking...
Great Northern Guns on Tudor had a Colt 6920 for $1600
Boondocks in Eagle River had a S&W M&P15 for just under $1000, and they also had a Stag or a DPMS for $930ish.
