Who does an introductory carbine class in Eastern Iowa? Any suggestions?

I have taken two from SSV Concepts (one taught by Rick).

Had a blast, lots of great info, good drills, etc. Will be taking more.

Depending on where you're at in Eastern IA, The Site up in  Mt Carroll, IL puts on a great intro class along with other classes.

Yep. I used to drive from CR. Long day, but well worth it.

Anyone ever a class with Cedar Valley Outfitters?

Possibly the best training for the time/money investment out there.

I took their "intro to defensive carbine" last summer.

I would recommend it. It is not a long or in depth class, but a good star in training. And teaches some good drills.

I have signed up for their shotgun class next month, and plan to take "intro to defensive pistol" with my wife in the future.

My wife took a class (women's pistol) with Rick (SSV) and gained a lot from it. She would do it again.

If you are looking for traveling instructors from outside of the area (not necessarily better), Steve Fisher will be here in April. The class was cancelled last year due to covid. I've taken a shotgun class with him, but this will be the first outside of that. Here's a link:

The Sentinel class will probably have a lot of proficient shooters, but I don't believe someone with a rudimentary familiarity of how a carbine works will be an outsider.  If they are, I will be there with them to help dumb the course down. (I know this because I've taken a shotgun class in the past.)
