Someone died passing in front of my house on a 2 lane state highway a few months ago.  A friend was involved in an accident in the same location a couple years ago before I bought the place.  They just repainted the lines again today and they are single-dash.  My wife and  I drove it tonight and it is inappropriate in both directions to not have a solid no passing line.

Who do I contact to have this reevaluated?

this?  if it is a state road, i'm assuming the DOT.  if this is a county road, i'm guessing the county board of supervisors...

would this be right 8mm?

It is a state highway.  I heard back, they said they reviewed it and determined it didn't warrant a no passing zone.   I have no idea how they determine it.  I meet traffic every night pulling into my driveway and by the time you see them it's way too late to pull out and pass.

Sorry to hear that. You could try escalating it higher but who knows.

FWIW, their criteria is they follow each other at 1000' apart and need to be able to see each others headlights/taillights.  I went out with my rangefinder and it looks like if they were driving pickups it would meet this, but if they drove cars it wouldn't.

invite your state senator and house rep out and dare them to pull in and out of your driveway with traffic coming.  that has a way of motivating the right people when a legislator is butt hurt over something...

Sorry your probably out of luck.  The state really only cares that you can pass farm equipment safely not passenger vehicles traveling close to the limit.

As it is now 95% of passes are illegal as performed for one or multiple reasons so if they came out and marked yours then they would have to re-mark everything.

It sucks but just do your best not to be the next guy in that spot.
