I moved to Texas in 1998 from Iowa. I went the trust route when I moved here and purchased my first suppressor. If you don't go the trust route I think that you are making a mistake. I also like my stainless .22 sparrow if you are in the market for a rimfire suppressor.

Anybody else get theirs yet? ETA mini review: This thing is freaking awesome! I couldn't wait until tomorrow so I fired a few rounds out the garage door (its raining, I live in the country, all good). 22/45 Lite sounds like a staple gun. Several FTF's but its basically a brand new gun so hopefully it loosens up. Not much difference between CCI 22 Quiet and regular subsonics or Federal bulk pack. Very nice. Ruger RAR 22lr, stupid quiet with subsonic. Bullet impact at 40+ yards is louder than the shot. CCI Quiet, even stupider! I'm completely thrilled with this thing so far, and for the money spent it is definitely the coolest damn thing I have ever bought. Can't wait for the Mask... Edit: Mask HD stamp came in 02/09/17, form 4 (individual) was mailed 06/13/16. Don't remember any other dates and haven't picked it up yet. |

According to nfatracker.com it looks like individual purchases may be a month or 2 ahead of trust purchases, if I'm interpreting the data right. I had heard a rumor, not sure if there is any validity to it, that the ATF wanted all pre 41F forms to be cleared by September 30th. That would be great if true. But seems like a monumental task given the tons of paperwork that silencer shop sent in the final days. |

Why are people mailing Form 4's before the transferor has possession or even Form 3 approval? Is it just a way to shave a month off the wait?

My 6/13 submission showed up at the dealer yesterday. A buddy who was about a week behind me got his today. Both were filed as individual.

Congrats on the stamps. Seems like your approvals are way ahead of the curve...got a friend who submitted 3/31 individual and didnt see his til 11/14/16. Care to share a pic of the approval stamp on the form 4? Not doubting ya but a september approval 2 months earlier than a earlier submission is crazy. Not doubting the approval but comparing approvals on nfatacker and this forum...you must be very lucky! Just looking for good timelines

Not doubting the approval but comparing approvals on nfatacker and this forum...you must be very lucky! Just looking for good timelines View Quote I am apparently lucky, my 2 (and my buddy has now received his 2nd) are the only 4 stamps that my dealer has received back so far. My buddy submitted his at least a week to 10 days behind me and his stamps showed up at the dealer one day apart but only a day or 2 after mine, so they are definitely well into June submissions. I did't pay attention but it would be interesting to see if we had the same examiner. Another guy I know bought 2 from Brownells a few days before I bought in April and he received both the week after my first stamp cleared, so I was not the only one. I think part of the "luck" is that we all filed as individual rather than a trust, which I have read are taking longer. I eventually decided to get a trust and submitted a 3rd form 4 on that around Aug 1st, still waiting on that one. I guess I don't take pictures of my stamps but I did give CaesAR15 a picture of my son with the Spectre II and a squirrel that he took, it was posted on IFC's facebook page a couple months back if you really want to look for it. |
|
So I just updated my account on NFA tracker for the 2nd can. Looking at the first can, I'm guessing its the April 19th can that shows 140 days (NFA tracker doesn't show all the can specific details it used to on the graph). They show wait times from 136 to 254 days for the days right around April 19, which I'm assuming is check cashing to approval. At least that is how I entered mine. An online date calculator says I waited 140 days for approval for stamp 1, so that's on the lucky side I guess. Online calculator says stamp #2 was 234 days to approval, so two months later took just over 3 months longer. This whole thing is a pain in the ass and I hope HPA passes soon.

Sounds like a couple of mine are out of jail, with five pending:
Two are here in my possession. Filed in early May, right after the law passed, checks cashed in less than two weeks later. One was filed by CCA, the other by Silencer Shop, both in the same Class III Trust. Interesting that the CCA filed application came back over a typo, but both stamps came in the same week, despite the four weeks it took us to turn around the typo/refile. |
