Looking for a barrel for a new upper I am piecing together.
Want-
- 1:8 twist
- 16" (someday maybe to be cut down and pinned and welded)
- Mid-length gas system
- M4 Barrel extension
- Prefer polygonal rifling but not absolutely necessary
- Probably .223 Wylde, but not absolutely necessary
- strongarm66 to pay for it
Have looked at a Lothar-Walther and Criterion.
The LW can be ordered from them for $200 and the Criterion would be around $250 from Brownells but is out of stock.
Wilson Combat has what looks like a great barrel but the schematic seems to show that the gas block location is short for the small low profile gas blocks; as in the length of the area for the gas block is too short for a standard or folding front sight base, which I want. The price is acceptable.
Bravo Company has a stainless one back in stock. Finally. But it is a bit more than I was hoping to spend.
Rainier Arms has a good looking one that is and has been out of stock for MONTHS.
I have been under the impression that Lothar-Walther was pretty good stuff, but lately have seen less than stellar things about them. Which since they are on-line reviews need to be taken with a grain or a pound of salt.
Criterion is supposed to be good.
Appearently Rainier Arms uses WOA barrels, which I hear good things about, but since they seem to not actually have any barrels, that might be moot.
Thoughts on quality of any of them?
Suggestions?
