That's correct...only a Class 3 FFL/SOT can own a SBR or SBS but a SBR is pretty much useless to us as we can have the same rifle except in full auto.  Most SBR's are made so that they can resemble their full auto counterparts (ie. AR to M4) so unless a dealer wanted a SBR in semi auto because there's no full auto counterpart it's pretty much useless...probably confused you so here's another explanation.

Since we already have M-16's I don't want to SBR an AR because I already have a short barreled M-16 complete with the "go fast" selector swithch.  But  I DO want to have a SBR made from a Ruger 10/22 called a pocket rifle...it's a 10/22 with a pistol length barrel, suppressor and a folding stock topped off with optics.  There is a full-auto trigger pack available for the 10/22 made by Norrell (also some available by TEK) which would be a LOT of fun but could always be added later.

Thanks for that update on blank firing only SBR for a military reenactor as I'm not familiar with that clause...$200 tax stamp for something that can't even shoot a spit wad out the barrel...OUCH!

I agree with you in that it may not be all that easy to do in this state, IF it's even possible at all.
