So you guys are stuck with me checking in occasionally when I'm not working 12+ hour days and then sleeping as much as possible to keep from getting fatigued by the heat and humidity over here.  My roommate is staying over here in the "sandbox" longer than me so he just got his laptop computer, after having the hard drive scrubbed by the military, hooked up and online.  This is nice as I enjoy getting e-mails from my wife and don't know how I lived without being online all the previous years of being stationed and TDY all over the world!  Well I've got a lot to look at and a few things to comment on so I'm off for now and look forward to seeing some more activity in our HTF.  

My deoderant/anti-perspirant hasn't stopped working overtime since I stepped off the plane.  My brother-in-law sent me an e-mail last week stating how how he thought it was back there at 1300 (heat index of 115 degrees), then he punched up where I am at and at 2100 the heat index was 121 degrees...needless to say he didn't feel so hot then.  We have a thermometer in the shade down where I work and I have seen it as high as 130 degrees, but what is worse is the days with no wind and 120 degrees with 90% humidity!  You're sweating your ass off just sitting in the shade and you haven't even started working!

Keep cool back there and enjoy that four-letter word that we haven't (and won't see while we're here)...R-A-I-N!  Talk to you guys later when I can!

The Sioux City unit just got back from Turkey.  It's hot here, but starting to cool down in the evenings.

I only wish I could go to Turkey (never been there) on a TDY as that would be nothing but a big shopping trip...not to mention the nightlife (if you're single and into that) offbase and the ability to drink alcohol (I have been known to be "into that" on occasion) and not have a ration card for your daily limit of alcohol which is either 3 beers or shots of liquor.  You can't save up for your day off you can only have a max of 3 a day no matter if you haven't had any all week.  Now don't get the impression that I'm a heavy drinker as we've been here over a month and I've had a grand total of 5 beers since I've been here...but I do regret not having the choice/opportunity to drink more thann 3 if it was my day off.  But like the motto says at our base...MISSION FIRST!
