Getting stationed at Ellsworth and will be up there in June. Just saw on packing.org that its pretty easy to get a CCW. Does anyone know if I have to be a SD resident to get it or can I keep my TX resident status? I do not have a CCW in TX. Is it really just filling out a form and paying $10 and getting the backround check done? thanks.

You have to have been a resident in the county in which you are making the application for at least thrity days.  South Dakota does apparently have reciprocity with Texas however, so you migh want to check into this.

You can open carry legally in South Dakota. Being in the military, why not? People expect you to be a gun-toting lunatic. hug.gif
