Howdy hive, need some advice on things to do up in the oscoda/tawas area. My old lady wants to go see some trees this coming weekend and I think we are going to go to head up to the Oscoda area. We may head up to the alpena region to see her grandparents. Where would you go and what would you do for a weekend up there? I'd like to do a few trails (hehe maybe sneak up some bob gear) maybe a bike trail. Should we skip oscoda and just head up to the alpena region? What do you guys think? Any good breweries up that way?

I like camping along the ausable river and there are plenty of trails to Two track , bike and or hike. Bring your GPS I always get turned around driving the Tuttle marsh area.

There are a few trails around Alpena and this brewery is right in town. The brewery is next to the ship wreck museum

Take your rifle and hit the IOSCO Sportsmen's Club range behind the old airbase/airport.  My recollection is a very moderate non-member day pass; nice range and nice group of people.
