Are there any reputable gun stores/ranges close to the bridge or tunnel that I can store my gun at for a couple of hours?  Any idea what the fee may be?

TIA

There is nothing nearby.  Leave your gun at home if crossing the border.  Downtown Detroit is not bad at all, the bad elements are all in the Detroit residential areas.

I will cancel my appointment first.  I’ll go nowhere near that God forsaken cesspool of a city without a gun.

Tholl - thanks.  I had the passport ready.  Formulating Plan B.

Aren't you able to leave your weapon with the US border auth...?

You do not wanna be caught sneaking a gun into Canada... CBSA will ruin your day... Possibly your week.
You'll lose the gun for sure.

I wouldn't even try being honest and declaring your gun to CBSA...

Best option is to leave it on your side of the border...

I would think our people would confiscate a weapon being brought in too.

/rant on - Our people are much tougher.  It is much easier getting into Canada than getting back into the states.  Unfortunately, they hassle the law abiding citizens.  That's why I'm going to Plan B.  BTDT  /rant off

sgtlmj - are you serving "distinctive Earl Grey"?

Yeah.... I've seen it happen.
I've booked people into my remand centre who've for whatever reason didn't declare their gun(s)
Latest was a middle aged woman traveling alone with her dog who just wanted to get a look at Niagara Falls from the Canadian side.
CBSA found her handgun (which she said she "forgot" about... which I can't believe, but... whatever...)
She was arrested on a thursday or friday... Her dog was taken by Animal control.
After spending a weekend + in jail going back and forth to court the judge let her out partly because of her poor ol' dog.
I heard that if the dog was not claimed within a certain time frame it could have been either put up for adoption or euthinized.(sp?)

Either way...'More or less honest mild mannered tourist spent some time in jail, had to pay $$ to get her car/dog back and yes lost her gun... 'Not sure what hassle she'll have if she ever wants to visit this socialist paradise again...

That said... wether you agree or not with another countries laws... "When in Rome... Do as the Romans" There are huge signs posted at the border coming into Canada telling travellers to declare all weapons... Declare and you should be okay. Get caught with what amounts to smuggling and well... it'll be "Squat and cough"

So all we have to do is declare our handguns and they will let us go on our merry way?
