The fucktards in Lansing decide to boost the Minimum Wage? I think taking a class in Economics needs to be a prerequisite to serving in public office (these people already missed out on Common Sense 101).
The bill, unanimously approved by the Senate and sent to the House on Thursday for consideration, raises Michigan's minimum wage from $5.15 to $6.95 in October and gradually increases it to $7.40 an hour by July 2008.

One article found here.So... let's get this straight:
Jobs are going to other states due to our state's heavy taxes on businesses, and our state doesn't protect workers who don't feel like joining the socialistic labor unions who have all of this state's large companies by the balls.
What's your solution?
"Well, gee... we'll raise the minimum wage! That will make our state more appealing to employers and will give more money to the poor!"
GFG these people are stupid. All raising the minimum wage will do is give people in shitty jobs a larger paycheck, while at the same time making all the goods cost more money. Employers will also be forced to reduce the number of employees due to the artificially increased wages.
Let's not forget what happens when Joe Shmoe the business owner is trying to decide where he wants to start his company:
"Hrmm... well, I could locate in Michigan, where I'll be taxed to death and I'm forced to pay all my employees at least $2.00 more per hour, or... I could locate in Indiana or Ohio where everything is cheaper, I don't have to pay people artificially inflated wages and I won't be taxed as heavily."
I know... it's a difficult decision. Now, the saddest part is, from what I've read, it was initiated by the Republicans! Why would they throw their knowledge of economics out the window in favor of this economically regressive, "feel good" legislation?
Because they were afraid if the Democrats put the decision on the ballot. By putting the decision on the ballot there would be increased half-witted bleeding hearts who failed economics going to the polls, increasing voters for Granholm.
