Im a little rusty on my Michigan gun laws, is it legal to have SS109 in Michigan? If so, any idea of a place in the Grand Rapids area to pick some up? I know the Silver Bullet, do they have any there?

SS109 bullets are legal in Michigan as are rounds loaded with them.

My $0.02: unless they're used for hunting small/medium game you're better off with (X)M193. It costs less and works better at all but extreme long range.

the plan is to do some balistic/penetration testing on a 1993 Ford Explorer.  so we are going to throw some Q3131A and some Wolf at it as well.  Maybe a few shotgun slugs too for good measure.

I cant ind any yyet, i checked Silver Bullet and Kent Arms, and although those are two very nice shops, they didnt have what i was looking for.  Anyone know any places between GR and Benton Harbor that might have it? I am driving home (Berrien Springs) this evening and I can stop somewhere on the way home.

I will be sure to fully document the experience.

You might want to try kiesler's.  I had good results buying .308 GMM from them last year, and they seem to have 855 in stock in quantities less that 1000.

I got IMs from two members.  If any of you know a specific quantity you want, say so, that way I can know when I have enough interested members to do this.  I might be able to sell off a little to a local gun shop too if I have to. (ask your local shop if they want any!)

I purchase almost all of my bulk ammo needs from either the Birch Run, or Mason shows. For the past several years, I've dealt almost exclusively with one particular vendor that's based out of Indiana. At the Mason show, he usually is set up beneath the "Big Boy" sign; and, at Birch Run, he's always in the South West Corner of the North Hall. He's an older gentleman, and his name is Doug. Besides bulk ammo, he also stocks AR accessories, as well as some AK merchandise. (I believe some of you have dealt with him.)

As regarding SS109 rounds - this last BR show, he offerred SS109  in bandoliers on 10 rd. strippers at $175 per 900 ( British Radway Green.) Thus, I added to my stocks....

I would sincerely recommend to those of you that attend either the Mason, or Birch Run shows, that you  establish a relationship with this particular vendor. Since I have done business with this fellow, he has provided me some noteworthy, and preferential pricing on my bulk ammo requirements.
