Jim Howell (State House Judicary Chair) says its dead in committee this term. We need to get the right folks in office this Nov, though.

I recieved this from the GOA:

Thank you for the heads up on SB 1381.

While GOA spends the most of its time working at the federal level, we are constantly reviewing bills from around the nation and using email to alert its members regarding many dangerous threats in their state legislatures.

Having said that, please bear in mind that this bill is but one of literally THOUSANDS of anti-gun bills being introduced this year across the country.

More than 90% of those bills will never even receive a vote in their initial committee, let alone stand a chance at passage.  This bill is no exception, as it has yet to clear the initial committee.

Were we to send out an alert every time a bad bill gets introduced, we would literally be sending more than five messages every single day-- and still wouldn't cover them all.

So how do we decide "what to do when" regarding a specific bill?  Well, part of our function is to identify the most immediate and credible threats to our gun rights, and then coordinate efforts to block them.

So we will closely watch the bill you notified us of, and should it shows signs of "moving," we'll swing into action and alert gun owners in your state.

Please don't hesitate to let us know about future bills or upcoming votes in the legislature!  The sheer volume of bad bills nationwide leaves a real possibility that we won't hear about all of them. And the earlier we find out that a bill is scheduled to receive a vote, the more time we have to stop it. Many times, grassroots activists have notified us about an upcoming vote before we learned of it through other channels.

Thank you for your activism.

Sincerely,

Frank Pejack

Yes, it's the same version as Senate Bill 1381.  This is the House's version.  Email your rep's and State House Speaker, Mr. Jackson and voice your objections.
