The only actual 1000 yard official range that I know of is the one out south of the Wendover airport. Only used on rare occasions.
However, there are unlimited stretches of desert that are longer than 1000 yards. I usually go out near Faust, but you don't have to look very far out there to find a suitable spot. Almost any BLM land out in the flats will work. Have you looked south and west of Iosepa? There's a lot of open BLM land there in Skull Valley.

Not really near SLC, but Carbon county operates a fantastic facility that includes a 1000 yard range. Nice covered benches with radiant heaters.

Still in pretty good shape. Several of the military target stands from WWII are still functional. |
