Are you serious?  It is always the customer's fault if they have a bad experience?  If I get crappy service at a restaurant, is that because I'm too demanding?  Or maybe the server had a fight with their signficant other before work and can't leave it at the door and focus on customer service.  My nurse gave me terrible care, was not friendly.  Was that my fault too?



I have had bad experiences at gun stores in the Salt Lake Valley.  I consider myself an informed buyer.  When I walk into a gun store I want to see what I am interested in, know the price, maybe ask a few questions about the item or ask for comparisons to comparable items.  If I find what I want I pay and leave.  



Impact Arms - I can be the only customer in the store but trying to get someone to answer some questions or pull a firearm out of the case is a joke.  Their staff are rude and not customer oriented.  Their prices are outrageous as well.



Doug's - They always seem to have cocky smart assed kids working behind the counter who would rather play grab ass with each other than help customers.  I waited 30 minutes to purchase a GSG-5 while one of the two employees at the counter chatted with his girlfriend on the phone.  The other was having difficulty walking a customer through a 4473.  Only two customers at the counter.  If they weren't the only ones in town that had what I wanted I would have left.



Get Some - I love this store.  Great selection, great prices and for the most part their staff is very knowledgeable.  I have made many purchases through them and done a CIII transfer last fall.  My experiences in there go from bad to great.  If I'm talking to Stewart or Mike I usually get great customer service.  They answer my questions and I'm on my way.  Mike can be condescending at times when he thinks the question I asked is stupid though.  That's not appreciated from a customer who has his credit card out ready to purchase a $500 item.  When I picked up my CIII item the young man finalizing the transaction insisted I needed a BCI check.  After going back and forth for a few minutes Mike jumped in and told him it wasn't necessary.  He clearly was not happy to be told he was wrong in front of a customer, his attitude sucked for the remainder of that transaction.  While waiting for this to finish, I was discussing an AOW with another employee (we were talking about my new GSG-5).  He wanted to know how I got away from the $200 AOW transfer tax.  I told him it was a pistol version and even if it was an AOW it would only have been a $5 transfer.  The reply to that was "You don't know what the fuck you're talking about".  Great customer service there.  



I realize they are busy right now so I don't drag them in to idle chit chat while they have other customers in the store.  But being busy is not an excuse to provide bad customer service, it's just an excuse.  A bit of training in customer service can teach their employees how to be more customer friendly in these situations.  When they are slow, I enjoy talking with Mike and some of the other more knowledgeable staff.  They've given me some great ideas for projects and even talked me into a new XD-9 sub on a day I was just looking for some 6.8SPC ammo.



FBMG - I haven't been down since they opened their new store.  Those guys are always super friendly, in my opinion above and beyond.  I really enjoy talking to James and Larry (who I understand is no longer there).  They never seem offended if I am just in to ask questions and not buy.  They are always willing to find me what I want, even if that means ordering it in.  They are quick to upsell without being pushy.  When I bought my TAC-65 from them, I walked out with a Walther P22 and a Tactical Solutions threaded 10/22 barrel in addition.  That's good salesmanship.
