Hi Gang,

Just curious if anybody know if there is a local FFL that stocks stripped LAR lowers.

Also, I  remember a while ago there was a discussion on FFLs that had reasonable transfer fees.  Does anybody still have that info? Or, if you've met someone knew you'd recommend please let me know.

Thanks!

Thanks Medicmandan.  I check in the FFLs and I didn't see any transfer costs there.  I remember somebody posting that there was an FFL that charged something like $25 for the first and then something like 25 cents for any others after that.  Seemed like a good deal, but hey I've never transfered a firearm so I could be smokin' dope here.

I'm trying to find an LAR lower for a friend or a good FFL thorugh whom he could order it or an LMT lower.

Say, this reminds me.  I thought I read here somewhere that you put together a FAL.  Are going to post pictures or what?

FBMG lists LAR lowers on their website.  If they don't have them in stock, they can get them for you pretty quickly.

Click on "Firearms" at the top, then "Rifles and Shotguns".  Scroll down that page and you will find LAR products.

They don't exist anymore.  They sold out to Impact.  Impact doesn't list them on their site.

Really, that sucks...

I think it's a good thing.

hmm... Well, I never been there and I have never dealt with them but I was referring to the fact that they don't carry LAR lowers for a good price now...

It would be nice if you could get lowers for $99 somewhere.

Thanks guys, I'll be sure to check out FBMG.  I was planning on heading there anyway to check out their store.  I talked to them at a gun show a while back and I was very impressed with how helpful they were.

By the way, I can highly recommend the LAR lowers if you can get one.  I bought one back when Totally Awesome stocked them.  I mated it up with an LMT upper and it's a great match.  Hmmm...I'll have to post a pic.  I'm looking for one for a friend that's kicking himself for not buying one when I did.

Medicmandan that's a sweet FAL!  I think that might be my next project...after I get my suppressor.  And a new scope.  Oh and some more ammo, too.

I believe LAR makes lowers for Bushmaster don't they?

That would explain the quality.

Yeah, that's what I understand.  It's got the nice teflon coat finish, at least I think that's what it is.   It seems like everyone is selling the Rock River lowers, but when you put these side by side the LAR really stands out and makes the RR look grainy and under-anodized.  If you want more of a parkerized look then the RR is the way to go.

I interviewed with LAR a couple of years ago.

At the time they were doing contract work for DPMS.

Wow, that's pretty cool.  Just what constitutes "blemished"?  Is it just a weird or uneven finish?  Or is it more serious, like out of spec parts?

I've bought a couple of blemished uppers from them. They are hardly noticeable marks. Even now I have to look to find them, but I did refinish mine, it didn't necessarily need it to cover up the blem marks though.

I'd say they are a good deal, it's only cosmetic.

So do you have a local FFL call them and see if they have any?  (obviously they won't sell them directly to you).  Or do you walk in and say "hey! Ya'll got any blem'd lowers you can transfer?".

Just curious.
