Newbie question: How to use a JAG?

I've always used a brass brush and slotted patch holder to clean my barrels, but people say JAGS are the way to go. But before I try and use a JAG to clean my gun I need to know how to properly use it. I know it seems like a TOTAL n00b question to you pro's but I've never seen it done and would hate to fvck up my barrel learning.

Any pic's of how to put the patch on the JAG?

Who makes a good JAG?

Things to remember when using a JAG?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

use a round patch and center the point of the jag on the patch. The only real thing to remember is that jags are "one way", so if you can, they should go in the breach and come off when you clear the mussel.

What he said. Boresnakes work great and you don't need to bother with patches.

I've used boresnakes and jags and it seems as though the jags get more stuff out. You get the proper cleaning rod and screw the brass jag on to the end of it. There is a sharp point to the jag -- you have a cleaning patch of the correct size and press it onto the sharp point of the jag. Then you put whatever solution onto the patch and push it through the barrel and pull it off the jag once it pops out at the muzzle end. There's not much to it.
