> OSP TROOPER RECOVERS MISSING M-16 MILITARY RIFLE DURING TRAFFIC STOP NORTH
OF BEND
> Posted: January 21st, 2006 9:19 AM
>
> A M-16 military rifle missing since an August 2004 training exercise in
central Oregon was recovered Friday night by an Oregon State Police (OSP)
trooper during a traffic stop north of Bend.
>
> On January 20, 2006, OSP Senior Trooper Scott Vaughn of the Prineville
work-site stopped DANIEL CROZER, age 30, from Powell Butte, for a traffic
violation north of Bend.  During the stop, CROZER was arrested on an
outstanding warrant.  Senior Trooper Vaughn also found a missing automatic
M-16 military rifle that led to an additional charge related to unlawful
possession of a machinegun.
>
> The weapon was reported missing to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office after
a military exercise August 21, 2004 near Haystack Reservoir.
>
> CROZER was taken into custody without incident and lodged into the Crook
County Jail for the unrelated outstanding arrest warrant, Theft of Mislaid
Property in the First Degree (firearm), and Unlawful Possession of a
Machinegun.
>
> OSP troopers and detectives are continuing the investigation.

Your little bird friend is most likely correct, our pal Dan Crozer seems as though he has been around the track a time or two as indicated by not looking directly at the camera.

Woundn't a removable carry handle (A3) have something to do with it?

In any event, I think this guy is in trouble.  I too wonder if the soldier knew this guy.
