Speaking with Emu just a few minutes ago he asked that I start a separate thread regarding the Night Vision shoot at his range on January 23rd.
Original thread was here- Original thread We will begin around 4pm and it should start getting dark around 5:30 that night. We have about a 4 hour drive back home so we would like to end it at roughly 10pm. Folks are welcome to bring their own night vision and thermal units or sample units we (JRH Enterprises) will bring specifically for that purpose. If you have an IR laser equipped rifle, bring it for use with the Night vision or if not we will have several loaner rifles there (ARs and AKs) and you are welcome to bring quality .223 or 7.62x39 and use our loaner rifles. No cost on our end for this. But we would like everyone to make a donation to the range. Emu has also graciously offered to cook food there at the range, so bring a $20. to donate to the range and a $10. for some good food at the range! Several folks asked in the original thread if we (JRH) could bring NV to sell there at the range. As most of you know, Night vision and thermal like most gun related items have pretty long lead times right now. I would highly advise you shoot me an email with what you would like to purchase and if there is a chance we can get it in before the shoot and bring it we will. That doesn't mean waiting till 2 days before however [email protected] If folks need help zeroing IR lasers, working with their personal NODs, etc. we would be glad to help as well. @billytehbob @Ettelbreck @PFran42 @porider @Cracker-MF @ThurstMyStoma @0627Devildog @Gahunter95 @YaBoyKGTho @Silverww @KavonTN @Last_Crusader @rustyboy @ATLGA @biometrician @D_J @YatzeeSquirrel @FNGfromGA @IHTFP08 If I missed anyone from the old thread my apologies. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 23rd. |

I'm in!!!
Let's try to get a good count on who's gonna be there so we know how many burgers and dogs to throw on the grill, plus some slaw, potato salad, etc., so y'all don't go hungry out there. |
|

I’m still planning to make a show. Hopefully the weather will be alright, I’ll be bringing my hammock.
|
|
Yeaaaaah Buddy. Can't wait.
What are the chances my UL BNVD SGs will be in by then? |
|
|
Yeah, I'm a Nov. purchase (figured I'd ask on the long shot) Chances of a similar unit being there to try out? |
|
|
I'm in.
ETA: I have a peq2, no nods though...been debating a mono or duals |
|
I am hoping to make this, but I wont be able to confirm till next week.
If I come I will bring 3-4 thermals, a bolt gun with a clip-on, PVS 14 and 31s along with a couple of lasers from Steiner and possibly Rheinmetall Defense. |

I'd like to attend but I don't know where the range is. Could someone IM directions?

In.
I own zero nightvision equipment. This will probably push me over the edge... |
|

I'm a solid MAYBE. Depends on work volume. Have PVS15 and full power Laaaazzers and wiling to share if I can make it.

As much as I'd love to own some night vision or especially some thermal gear it's not in my financial future. If I knew of a place close enough to me where I could hunt hogs at night I'd start savings pennies for a thermal scope but I don't have access to anywhere like that.
Looks and sounds fun but Santa says I don't get to play these reindeer games. Hopefully someone takes some video and posts it on here |

Quoted: @ihtfp08 Bring the dueling tree! I'll bring the boog blaster https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/227817/10385_jpeg-1738386.JPG View Quote I’m in just so I can shoot this magnificent piece of American engineering |

Talking with Emu a bit, he said we could use 2 or 3 folks to volunteer as ROs to help during this event. Ideally this will be people that have NODs.
Who can help out? |

I can help. I'll have a shot timer and bring my dueling tree. Additionally, I'll have a FP A2, reg power I2, and Maxim 9 if anyone wants to bring some 9mm ammo/loaded g17 mags to shoot. |

I’ll be there and also bring my 5/8 ar500 silhouette back out to the range so everyone can shoot rifle closer with nods.

Weather was a crisp 30 degrees last night in South Georgia. Hopefully we will see some warmer weather come the end of January in Madison.

Will anyone be shooting non infrared laser/light equipped guns? I have a light/laser on one of my AR's and on my Beretta 92 but have never shot either in the dark.

Thanks, if we make it we won't shoot them much. I'm just curious to see how well it works. So no more than a single mag each.

View Quote Hopefully you'll realize night sights on pistols are pretty lame (mounted lights and red dots are better), and the limits of your rifle light and the value of a good one. |

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that night sights have big limits. Generally if it's dark enough for night sights you really need a white light. There's really just a small window of light vs dark where they shine (no pun intended).
What I'm referring to is my AR that I have a Crimson Trace MVF-515 light/laser mounted. There are much smaller and lighter options available now but it was the cats meow years ago and still works great so I've never replaced it. Plus it cost so much at the time I have a hard time even considering replacing it lol. The Beretta I was talking about has a Surefire X400 light/laser. Neither has night sights although I do own a few guns with them. |
