C.Z. .22LR Bolt Gun

So in light of the .22 Savage thread, I'm now inspired to own my own little .22LR bolt gun.

I've checked out Savage and Marlin but I really like those C.Z. rifles. I know it's a long shot but has anyone seen them around GA?

While we're on the subject, anyone have experience with the C.Z. 452 rifle? Likes? Dislikes?

I've got the CZ 452 in .17 HMR and love it. Haven't found anything to dislike about it except maybe the ring mount size. I had to buy the CZ mounts for it and if I remember correctly, they cost around $50.

Yeah I remember reading something about how one model has a different, non-standard size. There's a 452 in the EE with a scope and threaded barrel for $575. A fine deal, but I know I can get a Marlin 925 for much cheaper, but I'm just not sure if the C.Z. is worth the extra money.

I have a 452 and love it. WONDERFUL rifle and well worth the cost, IMHO. I put the US Optics base on mine so I could use Picatinny quality rings.

Good to know. Hopefully I can get my hands on one before buying. My only concern is monetary at the moment, My budget restricts me to about $300-400, so if I got a C.Z. I couldn't really be able to shoot it because there's no optics and no irons. However, I could buy a Marlin and shoot the same day.

I had a CZ 453 Varmint in .22LR that I loved, and was way more accurate that I was. The only reason I sold it was to help fund my cooper.

IMHO save your money a little longer, and buy one. They feel like 'real' rifles, where the marlin feels a bit more like a toy.

There *are* versions out there that have iron sights so that you could buy at $300 to $400 and shoot the same day if that's important.

Be aware that CZ is phasing out the 452/453 series, and has introduced the 455 series. Still good, but the 452/453 is better.

I was kinda worried about that "toy" effect that you were talking about.

My 452 American is probably the best rifle I have, quality and accuracy wise. Very, very good gun. I bought mine from Tucker Gun in Tucker.

I'd be tempted to check out the new CZ 455 American, with which it is possible to just change barrels for .22LR, .17 HMR, and .22 WMR (magnum). I think the .22LR and .17 HMR will be sold as a kt.

The thing with the CZ 452's (there are a ton of different variations) is that they come with unusual (at least for this day and age) scope ring spec requirements.

Clyde Armory had 2 CZ452 American's in stock last week. I can't remember the exact price but they were over $400.

So that's who made it... I couldn't remember. Now I just ordered one.

Oh, and on topic. The CZ-452 is a fun and cheap rifle to shoot. You can get them at 400 Jewelry and Loan, just north of the outlet mall.

I have a 452 varmint and love it .I had a savage mark11 and it is now for sale at a gun shop in Statesboro for $150 and that is with 2 mag. and scope bases.
The cz is a good rifle and it shoots real good

I have a CZ452 LUX that is easily the best rifle I own. I shoot it more than anything else both for fun and for hunting(small game).

I cannot recommend CZ enough- it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the usual players in the .22 market. The 452 is now being discontinued and the 455 is taking over. I haven't had a chance to shoot the new rifle but they have had positive reviews from their owners. There are a lot of stalwart fans that are angry that CZ has changed the rifle and seem to be bad mouthing it but I have yet to see an actual OWNER report poor accuracy or performance.

Well I'm hoping this rifle I'm looking at will come in on price. TBH 575 is a fair price, but I think if I wait I can haggle him down to 500 or so. That way I don't break $600 after FFL fees.

I hope that $575 includes more than just the rifle. You can buy a brand new 452 American from a Georgia gun store for less than $500 including tax.
