Quoted: Have a quick question regarding firearms in GA. Today, I saw some armed security guards servicing an ATM at school (a state university). All of them had revolvers on their hips, one in a blue uniform, the others in polo shirt and slacks.. My question is are they legally allowed to carry a weapon on campus? If they are not law enforcement officers or retired LEOs, what allows them to carry a firearm on campus? Is there a permit or agreement somewhere that grants access? Thanks |
Legally they are considered a private security business which allows them some of the comforts of a LEO.
Check out Title 43 of the GA Code. If you're that interested. They are required to qualify and pass Background checks.
