Title says it all.  I was going over Georgia Arms site till I saw the current price on canned heat.

Ready for it?

$249.00/1000

Let's just say I commited the cardnial sin of firearms ownership.  I ran below 500 rounds in a particular caliber.  Infact I think I'm currently below 100 rounds in 5.56.  I would be chunking out rounds on my 550, however, my desk is still in pieces, and the 550 is still boxed up.  Plus all my brass is military, and I have no primer pocket crimper, yet!

let's keep going, anyone know of a local (cobb county or metro atl) source for any 223/556?

now that wal-mart is essentially out of the ammo biz, at least around here, i have no idea where to find, locally, some target ammo, or any ammo for that matter.  i don't really mind having to order ammo, but it would be nice to know there are places to just go buy some.

Got some at Bass Pro last week for 4.49 per 20 rounds. It was Remington in the green box. Not my favorite, but I needed some plinking ammo for the range.

Still looks like it's $230 to me.

I know Dixie Ammo has some Radway Green for something like $200 for about 720 rounds or so.  That is 62 gr so it might not work for you.

If you want 55 gr, I don't think you will be able to do any better than Ga Arms.  I have to have 55 gr for my original AR180 since it is 1/12 twist, but the 55 gr is also good practice ammo.

ME!

You should take up reloading:

Bullets $32.00 Pulled Surplus M193 55gr FMJ
Powder $37.90 WC-844 Surplus (Approximately 1000
rounds worth with my load) 8LB= $84.99
Primers $17.75 Winchester Small Rifle

Cost Per 1000 Round Case $87.65
Cost Per 100 Rounds $8.76
Cost Per 20/rd Box $1.75
Cost Per Round $00.08765

I have about 8000 rounds worth of components in the basement and all week off but, I've been too lazy to crank any of it out.

Walmart has UMC 223 for close to $7/box at Town Center and at US41 & the North Loop. Adventure Outdoors has a supply every so often.

Sooner or later the high ammo prices are going to catch up with the fury in equipment sales. Guys are going to start ditching their gear because they can't afford to shoot. Not everyone has the budget for or the fanaticism in the hobby.

Ok so I freaked out and my fat fingers must have missed some buttons.  Now I have to ask, Which price is correct regarding your powder?  84.99 sounds about right for a 8 lb jug, and 37.90 sounds stupid cheap.

I'm using $37.90 bucks worth of powder for every 1000 rounds.

I've had issues with their ammo in the past.  I used to buy it when it was $150 per 1000.  Their current price is ridiculous for reloads.  I can buy Federal American Eagle for $259 per 1000.

Where can you get it for that price?

For the record, I have been using their ammo for 10 years and never had a problem.  BTW, $230 for 1000 is still less than $259 for 1000.

Mine is stamped 1991.

Has bandos and stripper clips too, good looking ammo.

Slapshot, that was probably you I saw buying the ammo?

I should have introduced myself, my apologies.

ETA:  Anyone else have any info on local factory loaded 5.56?

actually the guy buying the ammo was not me, that was my friend. and unfortuntely he will never be the same.  we went to madison right after that and had the range to ourselves.it was actually the first day he had ever shot an ar15, and we broke in his new stag nicely.  hes got BRD bad now  i was the guy with him in the blue shirt and hk hat looking at the uppers.  were you the other fella that big Phil gave one extra round to also?
