No such thing as a SBR permit.

Thanks Mark,

Sounds like it takes a while.  I downloaded the form 1.  The paperwork seems pretty straight forward but getting the CLEO signature sounds like a pain in the butt.  Thanks for the info (both of you)  I'm working on the form now.Jimbo

The one and only  I live in Coweta also.  Newnangi's my cousin and I seem to have a case of the SBR bug!  From reading thoes directions it sounds like you need 2 form 1's and 2 fingerprints and 2 citizenship forms.....is that it?

"Judge" lives in Fayette...funny thing though....I live in Coweta but on paper I live in Fayette Co..I'm registered to vote there, and have a DL from Fayette.  We bought a house in Coweta but we knew we would move back to Fayette eventually so I never changed that stuff...Can he sign it for me for real??!!  Good god that would make life easy.  He's the County State Court Judge and sees mostly misdomener criminal cases, some felony drug cases.  I know that the Sheriff signed his paperwork, would that be because he just could not sign it for himself?

BTW,  I am thinking about the 6.8...If I'm going to go to a shorter barrel, I want to have a round that will not bleed off velocity and accuracy at 300meters.  From what I've read it sounds like 5.56 looses some ass when you go under 14.5 inches..

Thanks for offering the help with the paperwork...I may take you up on that..I'll email ya...Jimbo

Well, are there any real negatives in going the Trust route? Seems like there is less hassle for every NFA app after the first vs. going and getting fingerprinted and a sign-off every time.

Congrats Jimbo on beginning the "event horizon of the wallet".  There's no turning back now.  You have chosen the "red pill"...life as you know it is over.  Seriously though, I was thoroughly impressed by the 6.8 but the cost of the ammo makes it tough to practice a lot.  5.56 drops roughly 50 feet per second for every 1-inch of barrel you drop off.  So if the load you're shooting is NATO spec it should be in the 3200 fps and change realm from a 20-inch and the high 2800's/low 2900's out of an M4 length barrel.  It's really not that big of a drop.  Once you go under 14.5 strange things start to happen.

I can't think of any.  Contrary to what some people think or speculate, the "trust route" and corporation transfers are NOT something the ATF can decision away.  Congress would have to change the law.  There is no renewal required.  You can easily change it without a lawyer.  All perfectly legal.  Scares most people because it is so simple.  They think "there has to be more to it."

It really is that simple.

Well, when ever I get enough extra dough I know how I will be going.

Got my First SBR last month.  I live in Forsyth County.  I went into the Sheriff's office during my Lunch break but he wasn't in.  I have the papers to his secretary.  She called me about and hour later and said they are signed and ready for me to pick-up.  It was painless ....   I currently getting ready to do it again with a Colt 6921 ....

What are the chances of me getting a CLEO signature here in Cobb County (Powder Springs Area).  I've been wanting to SBR for a while, also would love to have a suppressor.

Thanks for the Reply Bookhound!  I just had a feeling about Cobb being difficult.  I'll start researching the Trust Route.  Going to have to set up a Corporation soon anyways, as I have first right of refussal to purchase the company I work for now.  The owner just celebrated his 69th birthday so my Corporation may not be that far away.

Good points . . .  I'm going to forget the corp. route.

The trust route seems almost to easy.  I'll ask questions after I research more.

Hey all. I'm up in Gwinnett & I am considering SBR'ing somethings (perhaps have to AOW one item).

Where can I get more info on the Trust path? Thanks!

Just make sure you fill out your 5320 to make ATF happy.

If you have some time to play, let us know.

Mark

Yeah, I will have to fill out the 5320 for the SBR.

If i get my form 4 back before I leave, I might be lucky enough to bring my OPS with me to this class, it would be a shame not to be able to bring it...

I have been trying to figure out a "legal" way to borrow a suppressor for a weekendif I do not get mine in time, pretty much no avenues of approach.

Only way I could do it, is if someone in my class had an EXTRA suppressor they would loan to a stranger

I am taking a class with Dave Harrington, any type of OPS inc can would work...as long as it is legal for me to 'borrow'

I thought that was a pistol-only class.  Any slots left?

I've got Ops cans coming for two customers, but don't own any myself.  Sorry.

Mark

I snuck in for sure, only 10 people I believe and the 10th dropped out. Saw an advertisement over on 10-8, being that its in atlanta, and over the weekend, and being with Harrington, couldn't say no.

Yourself being a 07/02, is there any legal way for me to "legally" borrow a can? Would it have to be from someone in the class that happen to have an extra "can" lying around?
