I've heard bits and pieces on the news, but apparently a Cobb County Police Trainee was shot and killed today by her instructor.  All reports are that the gun "accidentally" went off while they were on their way out to the firing range.

I haven't heard anything about it!  Will check in the am.

Police Recruit Wounded During Training Exercise

AUSTELL --- -- Authorities say a recruit attending the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy in Cobb County was accidentally shot and killed by her instructor today during a training exercise.

Officials say the Kennesaw police trainee was among about 30 students in the seventh week of the state-mandated ten-week training course.

The recruit has not been identified pending notification of relatives.

Cobb County Police spokesman Dana Pierce says the officers from his agency, the Austell Police and the county sheriff's office are investigating.

The instructor was placed on administrative leave.
