Quoted:
Only firearms using single projectile ammunition may be fired on DNR managed firing ranges. However shotguns using multiple projectile ammunition may be fired at stationary targets for purposes of assesing shotgun patterns in areas specifically designated by DNR for shotgun.
|
What the hell does "specifically designated" mean?
...silenced weapons...shall not be allowed on DNR firing ranges.
|
Why? What the hell is wrong with a suppressor???
Firearms using centerfire cartridges .50 caliber or larger are prohibited.
|
Why?? Too much damage to the berm? I could understand that. Too much noise for other shooters? I think that's a stretch. How many guys show up out there with .50 BMGs anywhay?
Non shooters must remain at least 6 feet behind the firing line when any shooter is at the firing line
|
Sorry, I don't buy this one either. According to this rule, I can not take a new shooter to the line and stand with them. I don't know about anyone else, but I REALLY hope the guy who shows up with his 8-year old kid, who has never before fired a firearm, disobeys this rule. Hell, I'll pay the ticket!
All childern 16 or younger must be accompanied by an adult shooter 18 or older.
|
Does this contradict the other "6 foot" rule?? (Still doesn't answer the question of newbie adults though.)

Did you say 19:00? As in 7pm?? Oh, LarryG...
The muzzle of every firearm in the firing position must be in front of the edge of the bench upon which it rests.
|
Does this mean I have to shoot from the bench? If I choose to shoot a handgun from a rest, do I have to lean all the way over the bench so the pistol's barrel is over the edge of the bench? I have carbines that, when fired from a comfortable position at the bench, do not have the barrel extended past the bench. This sounds like an easy way to get a ticket.
Loading must be done 6 feet behind the firing line whenever another muzzle loading firearm is on the firing line.
|
Sorry, I'm slow. What does this mean? Does this mean that if the guy next to me is shooting a ML and I'm also shooting a ML that I have to load mine
6 feet behind the firing line? I just don't understand this one.
I do think most of the rules are good common sense. However, I think some are very vague or make no sense. This is why I'll be hanging out at Pickens.
