You have got to shop around especially now while most distributors are out. I like buying Portugese from aimsurplus.com, but..there out. They may have some South African, its also good stuff. I did but a K of Port from Sportsman Guide for the same price. Cheaper than dirt will rape you on shipping charges.

We got some South African in the last Eastman @ $107/600 rounds.
In the Internet there are a couple deals: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/_308.html has South Africans. http://www.militaryshooters.com/ has Australians Ammoman is announcing Australians, which apparently are still in Customs. I stopped by Galyan's a couple times but they are apparently dry. I also read in this and other forums to avoid Indian ammo like the plague. Cheers! |

Just came back from Galyan's.
They've got Portuguese!! $40/200 round battlepack. Excellent deal if compared to other prices in the Internet. Got a couple but I'm thinking about getting more... so, go there before I'm back!!!  |

Awesome. The price at AIM looks pretty good, especially if you get 7 or more packs.
I heard a rumor that Wolf was supposed to start making .308 this year as well. Anybody know anything about that one? -Hobbit |

In the AR-15.com spirit of "get both", I am the owner of a kit FAL.
Taking it to the range the first time, I was impressed with the soft recoil (I'd been shooting a VZ-24 in 8MM Mauser just prior). I was shooting deer ammo, which was a very expensive way to function test the rifle. If I ever need to use it for deer, I know that $12.00 / 20 rounds Remington Core-Lokt will fill the magazine and empty ny wallet. -Hobbit |

Welcome to the world of the FAL's. I built one from a kit myself. Awesome rifles. I was lucky enough to get a Imbel kit from Tapco before they sold them all. I built it on an Imbel receiver. Brett Stafford put it together for me. Looks and shoots awesome. As for ammo I ordered some from aim surplus a few months back. It was port. It was like $129 with free shipping. This was at the begining of the year though. Enjoy your new toy.
