Looks like the wife and I will be moving to Wendell. What do we need to know?  We are both conservative Christian freedom loving Americans who shoot regularly .
Thanks

Wake county from the sheriff on down is full of full blown liberals.

Building is nuts in Wendell and house prices are reach the nj pricing. My son purchased a home 2 years ago in Wendell 285k now its valued over 550k and they are all on top of each other..

Bidding war started at 390k ,  we bowed out at 420k.   Looking in Johnston county now, Clayton area????

Johnston is better

Places like selma etc you dont want to be out a night...

I strongly suggest you spend some time in the area and see if you like it vs crap shoot..

I landed on the coast.. I lived in jacksonville/richlands spent two years in hampstead but moved back to richlands instead...

Do you have to live near Raleigh or can you live anywhere?

We currently live near NYC.

Raliegh area due to wifes job. even tho she works from home.

Going back down next weekend to look around some more, any suggestions?    30 to 45 min from downtown ideally .  We may call a realtor this time.

If you don't mind the hour commute, you can check out Moore County.
Nice place, sheriff is a good guy. Many people do the drive to Raleigh
every day from here.

Johnston is better than Wake, Harnett id better than Johnston...

Most of if depends on how long you want to be in traffic

People complain about Wake, but I like it here. Concealed carry and NFA weapons without restrictions. What's not to like, especially coming from NYC area (me too). The people in wake are nice and it's a nice area assuming you can afford the housing. Tons of new amenities.

Look at Cary (corral area for relocated Yankees).  It will feel and look like nj

It's not CARY anymore.   Now, it's CARI.

OP, I'd strongly suggest not living in Wake County.  I moved here from Mecklenburg, and didn't really understand what I was getting into.  Liberalism as far as the eye can see.

on a serious note... with the i40, i95 you can get pretty far out and still be in freedom.. Commute gets easier....

I worked for JOCO 911 for some years, plenty of good areas in or around Clayton

Smithfield/Selma has some nice areas but I’d generally avoid anything off the I95 corridor area

As others have suggested, look at Harnett County. Angier area keeps you close to Raleigh and housing market, while still high, isn’t that bad.

Wife and I just sold our old house and bought our new this year. Ended up having to do a sight unseen offer just to get the house and pay $10k over asking. Overall worked out good, we did a lot of research before we made the offer so we knew what we were getting into. Biggest issue was having to replace the hvac and just clean out the junk the previous owners left (ie 10-20 paint cans and filling my brand new trash can up with their trash before leaving)

Cary is nice if you can afford it, a lot of stuff around to keep you busy but it’s expensive. But then you’d be another tax payer for the town so I could get more raises, so move to Cary!

I have a lot of land if you want to build a house and own a farm. It's not cheap though.
