Hopefully a lot of you are already familiar with @alphajaguars BATTLE BUDDY HIKES

This thread is a starting point for general interest, picking locations and dates. So far here are the state parks that look like possibilities in the area:

Cliffs of the Neuse in Seven Springs
Medoc Mountain in Hollister
Raven Rock in Lillington
Umstead in Raleigh

Umstead is the only park I am familiar with. If anyone has suggestions please post it up, state park or otherwise. I plan on checking out some of these other parks in the near future.

Raven Rock looks nice. It looks like they have a few 4 mile trails that are rated as "easy hikes", a 6 mile easy hike, a 4 mile moderate hike, and a 4 mile strenuous hike. We could do any combination based on how long and how difficult we want to make it.

I might attend this one if there is still a mask requirement in place for the 25th.
If the mask requirement is lifted I will be getting a hotel room to attend the Lake Norman hike.

I haven't planned any particular day yet. I'm tentatively planning on going on 07/09 (next Thursday) sometime, and then maybe 07/18 or 07/19 as of right now.

Hi All, am looking for a Raleigh area hike - Umstead is a good option I've also done the Old Reedy Creek trail in Cary is a good 3 mile out/back gravel trail for hiking.

But anything in the Raleigh area I'm game for!

I have a newborn so my ability to travel is limited by what my wife can manage while I'm out and about so any ideas let me know!!!!

Yes I am familiar with the Reedy Creek trail area, I can’t remember if I have hiked there or not. It would be a good option too.

Is there any interest for 7/9 and/or 7/18?

Hey Sean!  Little Battle Buddy (LBB) isn't quite old enough yet for a 6 mile jaunt in the stroller, and cant get care for the 18th but I will be available on Saturday mornings from August 1st going forward if we still want to do Reedy Creek in the future!

We can plan for another sometime in August for sure. I will still plan on being there on 7/18.

Is this the Old Reedy Creek Trail that you were referring to? Meet at 2139 Old Reedy Creek Rd in Cary or the Harrison Ave Umstead Entrance? I am fine with either, they are only a few minutes apart. I have hiked in Umstead on that trail before, it is a nice area. I think it would be better, as it is wooded and the other trailhead looks more like a Greenway. Let me know what you guys think and I will start another thread like alphajaguars usually does. @Seanquigley @MattyGunz

Hey Guys

I'm in Alamance County, did one hike with the Triad guys (who are awesome!). Alas their hiking grounds are heading the wrong way on the compass.

Have to check with my events coordinator for the 18th, but would love to tag along.

I made it to one of the Triad hikes, but the most recent was definitely a little too far for me. Hopefully we can get everyone together for a big hike someone central near your neck of the woods.

Cedar Rock Park has a bunch of nice trails.

I've never done the equestrian trail, but it is right at 6.3 miles

I really do need it. Both physically and mentally. Work is killing me and responsibilities on the farm/ranch aren't helping matters. Hopefully things will settle down a little bit for some down time.

Definitely! Between working every other weekend and being busy on weekends off I haven't had a chance to plan another hike in a while. Unfortunately I am busy this weekend and I am out of town the next weekend I'm off.

Is there anyone that has days off during the week that would be interested in setting something up on a random week day?
