...well that puts the nail in the coffin for any support from me. I was a Brannon supporter and was willing to vote for Thillis (lesser of two evils theroy) but not now.  If that progressive pos runs for president then Thillis will be stumping for him.  To hell with that...

The Democrats LOVE these guys (Thom, Mitt, etc.).  RINO's.  Tired of the Religious right, the Big Business Tax Break boys, and the Tea Party spend-nothings out there co-opting the Republican Party.  Those of us out here begging for our personal freedoms are lost in the shouting matches.

If you don't vote, don't complain.

If you vote for a write in then you are almost as effective as a no vote.

The ideal system doesn't exist so we end up with two possibilities. Make sure you at least vote for the "most correct" in your viewpoint.

Change is a journey, not a switch to turn.

The Dems love these guys because they are of the same mind.... Just of a different Political Affiliation.  To me the GOP is dead they have been co opted by the progressive movement.  To all of them more Govt is the answer.....  To them all I say.... get the hell out of my way and leave me the F alone..... get out of my pocket and let me live my life on my terms.  I don't want to hurt anyone or tell anyone how to live.  If it does no harm to anyone else what difference does it make.

I am a registered "unaffiliated" because I see no difference in either party.  I guess I am becoming more and more Libertarian all the time with the exception of the open borders crap... but that is another rant entirely....

And here we have the reason why democrats keep winning.  Vote independent.  The only person your helping is democrats.  Enjoy.  I don't like Tillis (as I voted Brannon in the primary) one bit but will pick him I've Hagan any day

There is no functional difference between Tillis and Hagan as far as personal freedom, constitutional liberties, and taxes are concerned.  They don't disagree on much, including gun control issues.

I get the sentiment.  The only Democrat I voted for was pro-gun and the competition was a party-line Republican (which means mildly anti-gun).  This was Alaska and AK politics are a different animal.  Basically, I voted one issue and it just so happened that the Democrat was a bigger supporter of Gun Rights.

I don't care much for Tillis either, but if Hagan is reelected along with enough of her Dem colleagues, that means Harry Reid will continue to set the Senate agenda.

The worst case for a Dem controlled Senate is the confirmation of a far left Supreme Court Justice or 2.

I voted for Brannon in the primary, but will be voting for Tillis in November.

Real Clear Politics polling average has Hagan winning by 3.7 points. That shocks me given the state of this country and her support of the administration.

Don't believe the polls.  The Repubs are going to hammer away over the next two months.  NC basically has to choose between two anti-gun liberals... one who has a proven track record of supporting Obama and one that has yet to prove how much he will support Obama.  One big turd sandwich.  I'm voting Libertarian so if the Jackass wins by one vote over the Elephant, blame me.

I look at as not so much a vote for Hagan as a vote for Harry Reid.  Your approach may make you feel better on election day, but then you get to live with the consequences for the next 6 years, if not forever.

I did a search for Tom Tillis record on gun issues while in public service.

Below is a link that summarizes and provides links on said positions. I see nothing there that would make me risk having Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader for the next 6 years.

http://votesmart.org/candidate/57717/thom-tillis?categoryId=37&type=V,S,R,E,F,P#.VBo9UhXD_IV

Tillis was given a 100% rating by GRNC and the NRA in 2012.

I will be voting for him.

Where are you getting that you think Tillis may be an Obama supporter? His official position on Obama's signature accomplishment, Obamacare, is to repeal it. That's a pretty good indicator of where he stands.

I've been listening to that argument for years and just don't buy it anymore.  They're just there to rubber stamp the socialist policies of whichever party happens to be in charge at the time.

And don't think for a minute that Tillis will go to Washington to shake things up.  He'll be a good little boy and vote for exactly what he's told to vote for.  He definitely will not be one to rock the boat.  So go on and keep supporting the lesser of two evils.  Just don't get defensive when someone tells you that they are tired of supporting evil and will no longer do it.  Because you're right, we all have to live with our own actions.  I didn't even vote last year and felt great about it.

Ah. Yes the moral superiority of not voting for the imperfect candidate.   Thus helping to keep Hagan in office.

That strategy has worked wonders so far.  The liberals thank you.

The liberals also thank you when you elect staunch socialists like Mitt Romney or Chris Christy.  It's not that they're imperfect, I can vote for imperfect.  But I will draw the line at voting for clones of their Democrat counterparts.  And yes, being morally superior is awesome.

I'm sure Tillis will get in there and help repeal Obama Care and replace it with a shining jewel of an alternative set forth by the Republican establishment.  The Republican plan will only cost 2.9 trillion instead of 3 trillion like the big spending Democrats wanted.  Yay...

Pretty much nothing.

I expect Tillis to be like Burr and Hagan. Safe steady votes for the leadership for a decade or to or three. Bury yourself deep in the background and get lost in it.

Not what I want or need. I was going to vote tillis because hell arsenic kills you slower than strychnine.  But if Kristy shows up there is just no way I can do it.

I've no idea what they hope to accomplish and who they expect to woo with this...person...

Nothing personal here, but provide us with some specific facts as to how Tillis stood in the way of pro gun legislation. Include links to reputable sources. The fact that GRNC and the NRA endorsed Tillis in 2012 is good enough for me.

It seems most of the negative things written about Tillis stem from bitterness over Brannon's loss. I too voted for Brannon, but recognize that without a Republican senate majority things could get very bad for gun owners.  If that occurs, undoubtedly there will be at least 1 if not 2 or more Supreme Court justices nominated by Obama and confirmed by the Senate.

Yeah, I hear you and that is a concern for me, but more if Jeb Bush were to be the 2016 Republican candidate. Just because he is campaigning for Tillis, doesn't mean Tillis agrees with him.

I mean even Gregg Brannon has endorsed Tillis and is supporting him.

This is Tillis official position from his website.

http://thomtillis.com/meet-thom/

"Our porous border threatens our national security and undermines our rule of law. Thom believes we must provide border patrol agents with the additional resources, personnel, and technology needed to effectually protect us and keep out those who want to do us harm, those who are transporting narcotics, and those who would break our laws. Thom opposes amnesty and he believes Congress should solve our border security crisis now - before it even debates any other changes to our immigration laws. "

Regardless, I see a vote for Tillis as a vote against Harry Reid continuing as Senate Majority Leader.  I have a prediction that Justice Stephen Breyer will be retiring from the SCOTUS in the near term.  I hate to think that someone like Eric Holder could be nominated and confirmed if the Democrats continue to control the Senate.

Birds of a feather.....

Sorry man but first he hires Carl  F'ing Rove to run his campaign.....  Dude is a dooosh bag.  He has run all over the country trashing Tea Party types as well as anyone that won't support his progressive candidates.....

So then he brings in a string of Progressive RINOS into the state to stump for him.... IE Christi and Jeb Bush.....  Birds of a feather.....

I get it.. you think that I want Kay (do nothing) Hagan for another 6 years?  HELL Fing NO!!!!  but do I think that once Thom Thillis gets up to DC he won't just do what he is told and follow the RINO agenda (which isn't much difference than the Dem agenda) in lock step?

Look I was ready to vote for this A-hole... I really was... but I just can't support him.....not now...

Now where have you seen that Brannon has endorsed Thillis... not that really matters to me... but I can't find where he has.... in face I haven't heard much out of Brannon on a state wide scale... I know he is on the radio in Wilmington once a week... but other than that... I don't know...

Here is something interisting i found at The Daily Hay Maker....  http://dailyhaymaker.com/?p=8831.....

I am not trying to convince anyone to do anything I will vote my conscience.... you have to vote yours.....  This is not an easy thing to do sometimes...  My conscience will not allow me to support Hagan or Thillis....

As far as reading what Thillis stands for on HIS campaign web site tells me nothing....  BIRDS OF A FEATHER......  mark my words....

And for those that think that Thillis is so pro gun....... I would say he is lackluster at best.....

Not exactly a home run on Thillis's part.  We have restaurant carry but it is not because Thillis supported it.  He was instrumental in removing it from the original bill thus causing another bill to be passed to get us restaurant carry..

Rand Paul campaigning for Tom Tills in Raleigh. It appears Tillis has more broad based support from the GOP than some of the establishment. I recall that Rand was a big supporter of Brannon, but now recognizes the importance of  getting rid of not only Hagan but also Harry Reid.

I don't care much for Tillis either, but if Hagan is reelected along with enough of her Dem colleagues, that means Harry Reid will continue to set the Senate agenda.

The worst case for a Dem controlled Senate is the confirmation of a far left Supreme Court Justice or 2.

Real Clear Politics polling average has Hagan winning by 3.7 points. That shocks me given the state of this country and her support of the administration.

Real Clear Politics average now has Hagan up from the 3.7 point lead to now 4.2.  I can't understand why Hagan is polling so well. I thought she was on the ropes.
