Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Residential AC advice needed

My central AC is on the fritz
Can anyone advise on what I need to do to replace my old unit
1700 sq ft
2 small bedrooms upstairs.

Just ain't cooling and the unit is definitely over 10 years old.
Can someone help me spec out a new unit and give me a ballbark of what to expect for installation?

If the unit is running but not cooling, the chances are you just need to have the unit recharged with freon. It might be worth calling in a service man to check it out, unless you want to drop 3 to 5 grand into a new system.
