Well, It looks like IRENE is going to miss the Carolinas.  Boy, I'm glad cause Hurricanes really freak me out.  Updated:  Look like it will be no threat to anybody!  WooT!

AT 11 AM AST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM IRENE WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 30.7 NORTH...LONGITUDE  69.2 WEST OR ABOUT
280 MILES... 455 KM...WEST-SOUTHWEST OF BERMUDA AND ABOUT  480
MILES... 770 KM...SOUTHEAST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH CAROLINA.

IRENE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 10 MPH...17 KM/HR. A
GRADUAL TURN TO THE NORTH-NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED ON SUNDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMIAN NEAR  70 MPH...110 KM/HR...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. ONLY A SMALL INCREASE IN INTENSITY WOULD BRING IRENE
TO HURRICANE STATUS.

I hope you're right, but don't count out your huricanes before they hatch. Its that time of year. When I was with a DMAT, I usually didn't even plan vacation during August and September knowing that I might end up at the coast anyway.

For the last couple of years, everytime my parents took or planned to take a trip, we got a hurricane.  They left this week to visit my brother in PA.    I think that they need to only travel from December to May.

Missed another one  Hurricanes suck, just rains and rains.  Looks like I dont have to stock up on bread and milk this week !
