In NC a "silencer" is a weapon of mass destruction.

You'll have to convince them your a collector.

I think that depends on what county your in. Bobby Medford (Buncombe County Sheriff) signs all of them that don't get flagged for what I'm told. He signed mine while I waited. But I have heard of people who's local Sheriff baisically said "what do you need that for". F@#KIN' NATZI'S!

I have a suppressor transferring in to Phil Flack right now.  I hope the Rutherford Co. Sheriff is ok with sign-offs.  Phil told me that he's done numerous Class 3 transfers from down there.  I'll find out in a few weeks when I get home on vacation.

If Sheriff Good doesn't sign, I'll have to do the Corp thing.  The girlfriend already has an LLC set up for her horse business, so it won't be too bad.

I've dealt with Phil quite a few times, if he said it'll go through, then I'm sure it will.

If you spend the 30 bucks to get a C&R FFL it may help you "collector" status with the sheriff if he/her is giving you a hard time about it.  I currently have a 1 sound suppressor and 1 pending with ATF now.  Going for a short barrel AR next.  Let me know if you need any help with dealers, forms or advice when going to the sheriff.

In three years, when I'm done with school and looking for a county to set up a dental practice, buy a house and some land to set down some roots...  This kind of information will be good to have.

Hey....   Doc Holiday was a dentist...
